  1. I guess they didn't lead them that much...
  2. What was wrong with the universal term of Navigator??? You're right. Somebody got an OPR bullet from it... That's about it. I don't know if they've figured it out down there yet, but from what I heard from legacy P-Cola instructors before and after I left, standing up that new program was a sh*t show...
  3. My guess is that you will work with the EWO's in a squadron with beeps and squeaks stuff, but that no, you won't be an EWO. That requires Nav school. I'm not an EWO though, perhaps someone else on here can elaborate.
  4. I will plead ignorance, as I only know my own craft. But, as far as I know, Buff navs have not ever been referred to as WSO's.... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they do great work..
  5. Pretty sure WSO's are only on Strike Eagles and Bones... That was the whole point of the separate training.
  6. A buddy in my class still had to shell out a couple thousand to finish his PPL, and he went through the pilot program before the Nav syllabus. I think most of it was x-country stuff. If it is a stripped down syllabus from that, you can still count on shelling out some bucks.
  7. It is a pretty gay... But I got head-butted by the O-5 Nav Sq/CC at a roll call at IFF for all of us not drinking to his "when one CSO drinks, they all drink!" It is, unfortunately, the future.
  8. Our sq got a call after a 4-ship went to a MOA up in VA and set up a strafe pattern around some guy's barn. Apparently his sheep were running all over the place on every pass.... "How am I supposed to bang my sheep when they're scattered everywhere???" Oops.

    Back Stabbing

My original post wasn't even about IFF, merely an observation of RND Navs while I was there FOR IFF... I disagree that there is a lack of cooperate to graduate mentality among WSOs as a result of the Pensacola training. I didn't see it there, at IFF, or in the B-course. I think most people would agree that that kind of mentality/display of actions is a huge dick move, and they wouldn't be very well accepted in the community. Everyone loves those 35 question reviews.

    Back Stabbing

I totally disagree. The multi-service aspect of it was awesome, and I think the fact that you weren't in compitition with them for their "jet" spots and all the hoops they had to go through, everyone made more of an effort to get through it together.

I saw this from the Navs I met when I was at Randolph for IFF... They were ruthless, far beyond anything I saw in Pensacola. "Cooperate to graduate" is more than just a nice saying...
  12. I blame the Navy too... But compared to my bros, I went through pretty quick... I'll still be an LT in my first Ops sq for 8 months. (That's both good and bad...) Compare that to a WSO in my class that just put on Capt while in the B-Course. The new Nav program should even it out. They just got rid of the sensor course too...
  13. Snacko Stuff.com
  14. I think the AF built all new dorms... That sucks.
  15. RIP Charlie Mac and the other three aviators.... You will be missed. A sad week for VT-86 and the WSO union....
  16. Godspeed brothers....
  17. Nobody said PBR? Not may absolute fav, but around the squadron, come on!
  18. At least we don't have a thread devoted to us crapping ourselves...
  19. PNJ seems to confirm one alive, the IP still missing. Prayers for him and his family. Whiting Field pilot presumed dead in crash
  20. It looks like it might actually be this weekend... That sucks.

    Booze Talk

Got a sixer of Shiner Hef when I was out at Holloman... Good stuff, can't find it down here.
  22. Great Uncle- B-25 gunner shot down and survived in WWII Grandfather- Ret AF O-6: Nav turned C-130 pilot, Blind Bat missions in Vietnam/flew various other a/c Grandfather- Ret AF CMSgt Uncle- Coastie C-130's Dad- T-38 IP, Eagle Driver, now AA bus driver Mom- T-37 IP, C-21's Me: Born at XL, currently smashing bugs in a T-39 in Pensacola, hoping to select the Strike Eagle
  23. It is possible though... Both of my parents were IP's at Laughlin, then both stationed at Eglin after that, on different airframes. (That was back in the 80's, and I'm sure that the AF has changed a little since then.) Best of luck Shenanigans, I'm sure you'll work it out.
  24. It isn't as far, but I live in VA and used a MD recruiter. No PPL either, 30 hrs flight time. Also, I believe you have to contact an AF Officer Accessions Recruiter, not just any recruiter. You don't have to go through a recruiter to take the AFOQT, just find the testing locations (usually a MEPS or local AFB) and find out when the test is offered. I didn't do that, but it might make a stronger case for you to show up to a recruiter with kick a$$ scores and say, "help me get in." He'll probably have to set you up for the MEPS physical and aptitude test. Hope that helps a little bit. Keep researching, and good luck.
