Hmmm... I must have missed some special nuances watching Coming 2. In fact, I didn't understand it so much, that my opinion is that this film was just awful. You'll just have to see it understand the reasons why I say that, after all I don't want to be called a racist. Caveat: The Barbershop scenes were hilarious.

Let's face it, Joe doesn't do so well off-the-cuff.
-
Next time anyone catches Joe on the ramp, let me know how well his hair survives >10kts of wind.

Yes, we are pre-supposing that hardly anyone listens-to or follows his advice. Or, I guess, think he is a reliable source. You've seen some numbers somewhere which highlight his effectiveness?

Probably should start a thread for opinions about why some people prefer explosions under their hood, or would rather hear whining. The whining includes whatever custom sounds the EV maker has put in place to warn children crossing to watch-out!

Watched the Mars Perseverance landing yesterday, and all I heard from the dual-masked NASA folks was "MmmmfffMMmffhh..." After hearing them mumble, you could then discern a good deal of heavy breathing, trying to recover from talking a little bit. When it landed, they all cheered, then huffed and puffed. What a mixture of jubilation and sadness.

Thread derail... Here's the next thing. Don't forget to wear your COVID mask, your COVID backup/ancillary mask - and now your Ebola mask (I'm sure it'll be different (but the same). I sense an entrepreneurial opportunity coming to the USA https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/feb/15/guinea-officials-race-to-contain-ebola-outbreak-as-death-toll-rises

Yeah, I haven't owned a generator for a while, but thinking about getting back to that. We've been in a new (used) house for two years now, and suffered power failures seven times so far. The electric company (Dominion) has all of their "outside plant" aerial, instead of buried - so when trees go down, so do the wires. Actually, I figure if I buy one, I will never need it. Stuff works that way doesn't it?

"Ta-Ra-Ra-BOOM-Dee-Aey" (She said) Okay, so let's configure our ideal spacecraft, which carries people - even though they don't have to go. Mine would include: (One) - iPad or equiv. sized computer (to run everything, and tell those pesky humans to shut up when needed) (Two) - COVID-19 protective masks, to be work concurrently (maybe three if it's 2023 or later) (Unlimited) - Piddle packs, as a toilet (head, for you seaworthy fellows) will not be installed Please feel free to add anything you like to my starter list

This really ended up being about everyone except Trump (and Trump supporters), miraculously saving the election. And boy was it close (so they said)... The inferred meaning here is - a Trump win.

Maybe this belongs in the WTF thread, but I found this article interesting: Pause in Corporate PAC Spending Triggers Political Pushback Lawmakers say companies’ suspension of campaign donations puts business priorities at risk https://www.wsj.com/articles/pause-in-corporate-pac-spending-triggers-political-pushback-11612175400?st=sul454ilsy205y1&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink Yes, our wonderful congress is actually bitching they aren't getting enough money for their PACs, and they are insinuating that it will hurt legislation beneficial to these businesses.

Yes. No, they won't hate us any less. Take a look at EU (and Britain) for an example of this. Am I being to obvious here (likely)?

Wow, is that bad *ss or what?! As long as I don't have to look like any of the people who are modeling them on the website. On a semi-related note, have you seen the shields some other countries are using (Japan for example)? I guess we here in the USA just do what we're told, and hang something cotton on our ears. How many days are we into the Biden 100-day mask challenge? Doesn't matter, as we will likely be wearing these things for the rest of our lives. I want one which is surgically (and permanently) implanted. Wait, on second thought...

So what happened during the eight years of Obama/Biden? Did we just shut of the black complaint system, because there was someone in office who should be sympathetic to the cause? The complaints seem to rise and fall with whoever has been elected. I too have friends who are "down with the cause," and they lay the blame for all of their troubles on Trump - including the challenges you list, and race problems dating back decades. Well, now we have Biden. In a post-election world, it will be interesting to see where he lays the blame for race troubles.

Wow, are you defending our country?
-
But I will. The movie is awful, avoid. They brought Chris Pines character back to support the flimsiest of plot lines. His presence was a complete waste of time. Kristen Wiig playing the heavy? Wait, there's more than one bad guy? Another DC problem - too many characters. This felt like watching a bad TV episode of something.

Seems an interesting time was had by all... "Regrettably, Clarkson got off to a bad start with Yeager as the host arrived late for the interview due to a last minute changes in his schedule. The host shared: “He was standing there, looking at his watch and, as I climbed out of the car, he said: ‘You’re 15 minutes late.’ 'Naturally, I assumed he was joking, so I replied: ‘That’s nothing. You were three years late for the Second World War.' The Airforce officer clearly showed how annoyed he was at Clarkson. He spun on his foot, stormed out, and slammed the door."

It's odd, to me, that no one has said 'It's the car,' when referring to Russell driving Lewis' car last week. Not to take anything away from George, but he did essentially just step into Lewis' car and make it 'go' the same way Lewis does. It would be an amusing turnabout to have Merc say goodbye to Lewis, and hire George. You might say, well Lewis can go anywhere and win. I say no. Lewis would end up in a slower car, with another team, and be like Alonso - finishing every race in 4th or 5th or lower, and never capturing another title again. When was the last time we saw Lewis have to fight through the crowd to win (two seasons ago), and even that was again, in the superfast Merc. Oh well, maybe my feelings are all hurt because Russell got several bad rolls of the dice. Lewis' return on Sunday, really looked like the return of the same old boring. At least Verstappen was able to convert everything for the win. Or was it the car (Merc) again, not working properly as was claimed?

If Bottas wasn't worried about his job before, he certainly is now (no proof, of course). It's so hard to tell with him, he is Mr. "Nonplussed."

Perhaps regrettably, Hamilton is driving this weekend: https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/12157259/lewis-hamilton-returning-to-f1-for-abu-dhabi-gp-after-negative-covid-19-tests https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/hamilton-gets-all-clear-to-race-in-abu-dhabi-gp/4924800/?ic_source=home-page-widget&ic_medium=widget&ic_campaign=widget-22 I have yet to see any comment from Hamilton, congratulating Russell on his drive. Has anyone seen a comment from him?

So, is this when they finally recover from Stuxnet and get going again, or are we on try #4 or something? Maybe the IAF will provide some special delivery to help celebrate?

The God of enthusiasm, for which he offends each race.

We have our answer, Russell it is. https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12433/12148788/george-russell-replaces-lewis-hamilton-at-mercedes-for-sakhir-gp
