  1. "To address the problem, USAF is maximizing schoolhouse capacity in an effort to increase pilot production, it's revisiting the operational demand signal for pilots in non-flying jobs, and is working with RAND Corp. to assess the net effects of the airlines' hiring surge, said Welsh."
  2. https://www.airforcemag.com/DRArchive/Pages/2016/January%202016/January%2021%202016/No-Plan-for-B-1-Backfill-Yet.aspx Though the Air Force has announced the withdrawal of B-1B bombers from US Central Command’s area of responsibility—where they have played a workhorse role in conducting strikes in Afghanistan, Iraq, and in the Levant for 15 years with only temporary absences—the service has not yet decided whether or how to backfill the capability, according to USAF Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations Lt. Gen. John Raymond at an AFA-sponsored, Air Force breakfast speech in Arlington, Va. Raymond said the B-1s need to leave the theater because “there’s a modernization program going on with that system, and there’re readiness issues with continued deployments, as well.” He said USAF is working “very closely” with CENTCOM “to develop options as needed to meet the demands” of its commander. He later told Air Force Magazine that the B-1B “community” also needs a respite from nonstop deployments, and that “we have other things” that could do the mission, which are not necessarily bombers. He indicated that a B-52 deployment is not part of the mix of B-1B substitutes being considered. Raymond also said that while it’s true that F-22s deployed to Operation Inherent Resolve are being used “more than anticipated,” he said he’s “not aware” of any plans to accelerate a program for a successor air superiority system, postulated for the 2030 timeframe. Air Combat Command chief Gen. Hawk Carlisle has said OIR operations are consuming F-22 hours and contract maintenance at a far faster rate than programmed.
  3. Well all the bored BUFF guys want to get back in the fight.
  4. Does anyone have any information on the details of what it is like to live in Okinawa without command sponsorship for a wife? I've heard a few different things on the SOFA status, everyone in the AF says she would not get it, but i've read some things online that she would because I am stationed there and we are married regardless of PCS orders. Thanks for the help.
  5. Worked out well for me and some some other guys I know. It was scheduled for 5 days of flying last day being the checkride, ended up being 2 days of flying and 3rd being the checkride. PM me for more details.

  9. Some of the more notable airline incidents from Asian airlines have been due to "saving face" and not speaking up. Wonder if this had anything to do with them not communicating at all?

  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk...slands-18692532 Two people have been picked up by helicopter after two RAF Tornado jets crashed in the Moray Firth. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Tornado GR4s, which have a pilot and navigator, were from RAF Lossiemouth, on the Moray coast. The MoD said one of the aircraft had been seen in the water and the other was classed as "missing". Aberdeen Coastguard was alerted to the incident at about 13:50. An RAF helicopter picked up two people and flew them to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. A search is taking place in the Moray Firth The three lifeboats have been searching an area 25 miles (40km) south of Wick, in the Beatrice oil field, for the two crew who remain missing.
