  1. https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2018/02/28/gorilla-statue-removed-after-complaints-it-was-racially-insensitive/ I fear for our society.
  2. The use of the word “pause” pisses me off. You GROUNDED the fleet. I know that word sends the wrong message to the public, but the message you are sending to your IP’s and students is one of obfuscation and sugar-coating. When bad shit happens to an airplane or pilot, you GROUND it. Just call a spade a spade for Christ sake. These mind games from our senior managers are becoming transparent and tiring.
  3. Serious questions since I’ve been out of UPT for 12 years now - but do you guys run ORM before each T-6 sortie, or is that some bullshit only the MAF does? Based on what I’m reading here, I could easily come up with enough points to drive my ORM approval up to a level just shy of the SecDef.
  4. As soon as I blow some tires on the 73 I’ll post it... pending the NTSB investigation.
  5. My biggest concern is that these "lower quality studs" will be my FO in a 737 in about 12 years (or less when the next VSP happens).
  6. Funny... not a single $ in any of those COA slides. Good luck competing with the airlines.
  7. Yes. Publish now and don’t forget to factor in terminal leave.
  8. I just do it because it’s a good way to kill 1.5 seconds of a 5 hour transcon.
  9. Had a similar occurrence a few weeks ago regarding parking reimbursement. My company will pay for close-in hourly parking when a reserve is called in with less than 3 hours to push. I had it happen twice in December so I used my credit card to the tune of about $110 - no big deal. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I had some time to hang out in the lounge so I submitted my parking receipts to our base coordinator with nothing but my name and employee number written on them. Within 10 minutes I had an e-mail pop up on my EFB saying the request for reimbursement was submitted. The money was in my account 5 days later. It made me chuckle to think of how this process would have worked in the military. Meanwhile, on the Guard side, I still haven't received payment for a 2-day off-station trainer I did in November because of some fuck-up in DTS that was beyond my control. Citi-Bank has already mailed me two notices of non-payment and somehow I haven't lost a bit of sleep over it.
  10. I bet 90% of those parked in the desert would start right back up. You’d just need to have someone there to bounce on the wing a couple of times during engine start.
  11. We need to remember the true victims of this shutdown... (From JQP - first comment FTW)
  12. ”Artful”
  13. Based on the color of those trails, it looks like they were spraying the mass sterilization compound that day. Fine choice.
  14. Our ANG unit has started rectifying incentive pay in a very haphazard manner. As an over-12 traditional, I'm slowly being made whole for the $1000/mo. figure from back in October and November, but they are still paying me the $650/mo. for AFTPs/UTAs worked last week. It's very random how they are paying out the differences too. I'll get $11.66 per period (or two) worked one day but nothing for the next day. All I can say is track that shit!
  15. Every time this thread revives, I come back hoping they're going to allow us to wear black t-shirts and boots again.
  16. So are these taskings going to full-timers? Part-timers? Either?
  17. I’ve been getting that too. I thought it was just because I haven’t had a pay period in a while, but that didn’t seem right. Glad it wasn’t just me. It must be tough to maintain a website that hasn’t been refreshed once in the 13 years I’ve been in.
  18. On another note... SWA app window opened this morning. Numbers from the training center have been 750 to upwards of 1000 for 2018. I think the lower is the most recent estimate. As always, subject to change.
  19. Where’s Chang? I’d love to hear his opinion on this...
  20. Good luck with that. While I agree hiring info gets stale over time, there is some merit in what was presented over those several dozen pages. I guess we can all now tune in to the noise over at APC while the BODN thread regenerates.
  21. Am I completely losing my mind, or is the “Leaving the Air Force for the Airlines” thread gone? Is big blue trying to squash the exodus by quietly censoring BO.net? We wouldn’t want to allow those still on active duty the resources necessary to make an educated decision about their career paths (that happens during mid-term OPR feedback). What am I missing?
  22. The next logical step is “Test group to skip flying airplanes all together”. Anyone who’s played “Top Gun” on the NES should go direct to left seat in the C-17 for some night AR. This has become the definition of grasping for straws.
