  1. Meh, we're pretty f'd up on the ops side too...
  2. This is turning out to be the exact opposite of the FY14 program. Sorry to hear all the denials, guys.
  3. A handful of the FY14 VSP guys have been approved for an extension. Most are at bases that took the biggest hit and are facing some serious manning issues. It's mutually beneficial as most are pushing into early CY15 to facilitate transition to AFRC/ANG jobs. Not to mention the tax benefits...
  4. I've begun gutting my mattress in order to store my finances. Thanks, gearpig.
  5. So we wore blues for no reason at all then?! What a crock... ETA: In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear it was worked out. The stigma will be there for a while, but hopefully his/her career will be fine in the long-run.
  6. Thanks for the feedback. That last part went through my head too. I thought I was just being paranoid.
  7. There's been talk about the AF allowing VSP folks to stick around for a few extra months to help out with the impending "manning crisis." At first we scoffed at the likelihood, but it's seeming like more and more of a possibility. Would it not make financial sense to make sure that the VSP check doesn't hit one's bank account until after 31 Dec? This would mean that lump sum from Uncle Sam is added to a 40K first-year First Officer's paycheck (fingers crossed) in 2015, as opposed to a 75K-ish Air Force salary accrued up 29 September '14. Thoughts? Am I missing anything here before I sadistically volunteer to to stick around 3 months longer?
  8. I don't think this has been posted on BODN yet. I waited for the punchline, but it never came... Holy Hell.
  9. Thanks Jughead. Your response sent me 180 degrees on what I thought was best. I have no problem working (and getting paid) until the 29 Sep DOS then collecting the 1/30th base pay for 60-ish days of leave. Will I get taxed on that sold back leave (about $11K in my case)?
  10. Along the lines of finance... How significant of a monetary loss does one realize when selling back leave versus going on terminal. Obviously it varies. My understanding is that when selling back, one loses out on BAH, BAS, incentive pay, etc. for those days. Is this correct, or have I been misled. Anything else I am not taking into account? I'm sure there's plenty of Air Force guidance on this, but I am looking for a legitimate perspective, not shoe-clerkese. ETA: Good info here. I'm also looking for other's insight as many of us are nearing a potential terminal start date quickly.
  11. Checks. Without getting into numbers, AFPC has dealt the C-17 FTU a major shit-sandwich. While I think a message has been sent, I do not believe it will be received by leadership. Somehow it will all be worked out and timelines will be met (read Powerpoint slides for the O-6 in the green). Meanwhile, the burden lies with the guys still left in the squadron fighting the good fight.
  12. Thank God. Now I don't have to do a PRF!
  13. I was totally fucking around when I said that last night... Approved! 2005 11M Just under 2 years UPT ADSC when I separate. Altus got cleaned out today.
  14. So, tomorrow is the big day. Is anyone else as psyched as I am?
  15. It was brought up internally - to the CSAF directly when he visited Altus two months ago. He feigned concern, made a phone call or two, and what did we get? "The Pulse" which is AFPC's way of being transparent. Thanks, General Welsh. You really nipped that one in the bud.
  16. T.C. has been quiet lately. I think he picked a good day to drop his latest article. https://www.jqpublic-blog.com/involuntary-frustration-delays-deception-plague-usaf-drawdown/
  17. Has M2 been a closet TIB groupie all these years? Who just happens to see the tour bus around town? That is so ratchet.
  18. Next few months.... Assuming I get VSP approved in a "few months," that will make my last bit of Active Duty service a real shit-show. I guarantee my usefulness to the squadron will be about nil as I try to get my civilian life in order. The longer they kick this can down the road, the harder it is going to be for my squadron-mates to pick up the ball that is going to be dropped when I (and my fellow VSP'ers) prepare to depart the fix.
  19. Did anyone at AFPC consider tying up a few of the loose ends from the FY14 program before delving balls deep into FY15's!? Jesus tap-dancing Christ!
  20. Hahahaha... Ha! The original message said a lot of things. Few of which have held any water.
  21. Awful quiet around here. Has the FY '14 Force Management program come to a screeching halt until 1 May? Perhaps this break is a chance for the folks at AFPC to focus their efforts on the BBQ competition. Solid.
  22. Holy hell...
  23. Same old song and dance. The time for communication and openness has long since passed. Just deny my flipping VSP app already so I can Palace Chase.
