Eliminating AF Waste (Fraud/Abuse too)
FUSEPLUG replied to disgruntledemployee's topic in General Discussion
Not questioning what you're saying here... I simply want to know where this risk matrix is and how I can run it myself for shits and giggles. I am really tired of hearing about staff and their ability to figure out what is and is not safe for me as the aircraft commander. -
Eliminating AF Waste (Fraud/Abuse too)

Sure, but what if your one working ADF subsequently fails? Then what? -
Decline of Baseops.net (aka The Wrath of PYB/Mods gone wild)
FUSEPLUG replied to a topic in Squadron Bar
What kills me is the fact that PYB's entire site is dedicated to harassing Tony Carr. Tony Carr, a retired family man, studying at Harvard, who hosts a blog which he has admitted is primarily a vehicle with which to hone his writing and argumentative skills. The secondary effects of his writings have rallied a good number of folks who care about the state of the Air Force to comment thus furthering his primary cause. This whole thing resembles a 4th grade playground rivalry that has lingered on for a few decades too long in the small mind of this PYB character. In any case, it makes for good reading on BODN. I look forward to M2 reposting the post statistics chart to include October. -
FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
FUSEPLUG replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
JQP, timely as usual... https://www.jqpublic-blog.com/continuing-disaster-afpc-misinforms-thousands-disrupts-medical-coverage-transitioning-families/ -
I hope 94-0069 isn't on the list. That POS had a lengthy bout of SC/EFC problems back in '12. It was painted with the Stewart tail flash but still used for CHS locals. After about three months and multiple flights back from North Field at full flaps, it was back in CHS colors. Somehow the NYANG stiff armed that one.

Bump. Looks like the first 17 has arrived! I'm sure the coast(s) will be sending their finest tails. https://www.stripes.com/news/us/c-17-aircraft-start-heavy-lifting-at-wv-base-1.305094

FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
FUSEPLUG replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
Is $17,500 the max for the Roth and Standard TSP combined? If I max out my Roth IRA ($5,500) does that mean I need to limit my Roth TSP contributions to $12,000? -

It's been a while since this thread/topic has been touched on, but this video released yesterday is pretty remarkable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=_e9UhLt_J0g

Nice! Wright-Patt has had C-17's since early 2011 (source). What about Memphis? Stewart? Planned: Martinsburg? You'd think for $25 the 2014 edition would be somewhat up to date. I remember grabbing a pile of these things for free at CBM back in '06. I stand by my original assertion. $25. GFY.

From what I've heard, it sounds like the DLF Wg/CC has it out for FAIPs after some adultery crap at his base involving a non-FAIP(?). Meanwhile, the rest of the AETC Sq/CC's are being called to San Antonio to discuss the instructor/student relationship situation with the new boss. Now that we are out of Iraq (kinda) and soon out of Afghanistan (maybe), I truly think the Air Force has nothing better on which to focus. Once again, the whole shitting of pants/diapers thing is in effect. Perhaps someone at Laughlin could chime in...

Lauren Bacall today... Now who completes the trifecta?
-
Apparently JQP has an informant at Altus feeding him the shit that the OG continues to spray all over the base every time he decides to have a CC call in response to an ARI. Not unlike this... ETA: See JQP's text below:

AFPC has a DIPSHIT branch. I guess I always figured as such, but this is the first time I've seen it in an official AF Q&A document.

I don't know what crazy organization you work for, but this is the USAF we are talking about. Know your audience!

Meh, we're pretty f'd up on the ops side too...

FY 15 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
FUSEPLUG replied to C-21.Pilot's topic in General Discussion
This is turning out to be the exact opposite of the FY14 program. Sorry to hear all the denials, guys. -
FY 15 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
FUSEPLUG replied to C-21.Pilot's topic in General Discussion
A handful of the FY14 VSP guys have been approved for an extension. Most are at bases that took the biggest hit and are facing some serious manning issues. It's mutually beneficial as most are pushing into early CY15 to facilitate transition to AFRC/ANG jobs. Not to mention the tax benefits... -
$25. GFY.

I've begun gutting my mattress in order to store my finances. Thanks, gearpig.

So we wore blues for no reason at all then?! What a crock... ETA: In all seriousness, I'm glad to hear it was worked out. The stigma will be there for a while, but hopefully his/her career will be fine in the long-run.
-
Thanks for the feedback. That last part went through my head too. I thought I was just being paranoid.
-
There's been talk about the AF allowing VSP folks to stick around for a few extra months to help out with the impending "manning crisis." At first we scoffed at the likelihood, but it's seeming like more and more of a possibility. Would it not make financial sense to make sure that the VSP check doesn't hit one's bank account until after 31 Dec? This would mean that lump sum from Uncle Sam is added to a 40K first-year First Officer's paycheck (fingers crossed) in 2015, as opposed to a 75K-ish Air Force salary accrued up 29 September '14. Thoughts? Am I missing anything here before I sadistically volunteer to to stick around 3 months longer?

I don't think this has been posted on BODN yet. I waited for the punchline, but it never came... Holy Hell.

Thanks Jughead. Your response sent me 180 degrees on what I thought was best. I have no problem working (and getting paid) until the 29 Sep DOS then collecting the 1/30th base pay for 60-ish days of leave. Will I get taxed on that sold back leave (about $11K in my case)?
