Looks like AFPC finally has this whole manning thing nipped in the bud for good! How could this possibly backfire?

I appreciate the replies, guys. I’ve got two more years to ROPMA. If that means I have to hang out until 21 or 22 years to get the TIG, so be it. If (when) the next pandemic (election year) hits the airlines, I’ll probably be thankful for the DSG side gig.

Speaking of ACSC... What is the general stance regarding promotions in Guard units right now for those who elect not to do ACSC in correspondence? I am rolling the dice after giving up way too much of my life to SOS and Masters bullshit while on AD. I really cannot stomach the thought of subjecting myself to another Air University time bandit. We’ve had a few guys in my unit promote with fewer career/flying-relates boxes checked than I have. Just curious how other units have been treating ACSC lately.

I wonder how they’ll determine which songs are hymns and which are hyrs.

I'll second Jai Alai from Cigar City Brewing. Still can't beat Bell's Two Hearted, but definitely in my top 5.

Sweet. Two more justifications to keep getting fatter! This virus thing ain't so bad after all!

I just started listening to his Podcast lately. Highly recommend.

Looks like textbook work by the crew. I haven't done phase sims yet this quarter, but I heard we are given this particular scenario. I don't have the checklist in front of me, but is opening the troop doors part of the landing with partial/all gear not extended checklists? If not, that's good thinking on this crew's part. I've heard that one of the first indications of the actual problem the Bagram accidental gear-up landing crew had was when the crew entry door didn't swing all the way down during the evac. Might just be an old rumor though.

How else do you expect them to close their IFR flight plan from a farmer’s field?

As a MAF dude on Active Duty, I had an experienced IP question me as to why I didn’t give him a Q-1E (commendables) on his mission check. I told him because it was a vanilla checkride on day with great weather and he did his JOB. Apparently being on the Wing CAG wasn’t going to be enough for his career. I think he works for Delta now. To answer your question - just take any commendables as a compliment. You weren’t EQ (don’t know if I’ve ever seen one), but you rocked some shit on the checkride... AND YOU PASSED.

Where the fuck did you go wrong in your life?!

Guys, guys, guys! This is not how online discourse between flyers is supposed to work! Not one of you used the term “libtard” or referenced the “orange man.” I think we should all take few minutes to peruse Airline Pilot Central (pick a thread, any thread), then come back here and discuss this topic like mature adults with internet anonymity.

I'm triggered by the General's hairline. As an O-4, I find this offensive and indicative of my future (well, not the star).

How unfortunate. You'll be missing out on so many extraordinary dining experiences! Eating Pick-Up Taco in my car while sobbing is how I got through the first 6 months after my PCS to that locale.

Spawn, If I were you, I'd just keep riding it out at your regional until you get the offer from your company of choice. It's only a matter of waiting it out. I've given this same advice to the young guys in my Guard unit as well. Keep doing the mil flying, upgrade at your company then wait it out. If F9, B6 or NK (oh snap!) are your target, then absolutely apply. I would not make the move to any of those though simply to fly bigger metal. If AA, DL, UA, WN (shiiiiit) are what you're aiming for, then 121 PIC time at your regional will be your quickest path. Upgrading to AC/IP (if you aren't already) in your MWS is certainly advisable, but if you want to get to a major ASAP then I would argue your regional is the best bet. Good luck!

This wouldn’t happen to be a “well-known” guy from the mobility community, would it? Either way, the efforts against the guy I am talking about were due to extreme douche-baggery outside of his AF career. That’s a clean kill when you fuck over a well-liked bro with a lot of friends at most (if not all) of the majors.

Popcorn? I’m thinking a couple (three) glasses of scotch will be in order when this story is told. 🥃

I’m usually pretty skeptical about this stuff, but this guy’s story gave me chills driving to the airport this morning. Joe’s interview with Bob Lazaar from a few months ago is also very interesting.

Whenever I hear this phase, I love to recount the DOZENS of times I’ve flown a completely empty C-17 across an ocean.

You forgot “pretty darn good.”

That's called the Air National Guard.
