  1. Looks like Big Blue is finally raising our flight pay . 6 years only gets a $50 increase while the 14 year guys goes down to 12 years now at $1k. But we have to worry about our guys being able to jump to the airlines at 750 hours.
  2. You mean we are almost 9 months out from the release of the FY18 announcement and 11 months out from the date you can sign up. You are correct though when they can't even get the bonus out on time to get guys to stay. Gee I wonder why people aren't taking the bonus? Maybe we don't even take them seriously anymore when they aren't trying to get guys to stay in longer.
  3. Kinda late for this idea. How long have we been saying do something like this and get laughed at? Oh and it's still up to Lt Gen Grosso to help approve this so that's a nope not going to happen. Let's just keep passing over our pilots and keep on pulling harder back on the stick as the pilot manning continues to increase the graveyard spiral that we are currently in.
  4. That closed. Replaced by a joke of a "strip" club. As for Mad Jack's BBQ I've had way better in Tx, Ar, and Tn (Memphis). It's not bad but there is better places out there. But that's my opinion. There is a lot of outdoor stuff to do there. We stayed at Las Ventanas with a lot of the married studs going through the RPA school house. There are a few crash pads there. Shouldn't have a hard time finding a long term rental there either. I ended up getting my commercial glider license while I was there with the glider club. Great group of folks to fly with.
  5. I can second that. It just goes to the office and it's either an enlisted or a civilian that answers. But call it and ask the questions. They should be able to help out.
  6. It's no later than 6 months from the release date. You can set one up sooner if you would like. Which I would expect nothing less than that from guys who want out.
  7. If the Air Force is smart about this new process, who are we kidding they will screw this up also, they will give each wing x number of slots that the wing king and use to fill. Then the rest the AF does some mind blowing process to fill the rest.
  8. I don't know about AETC but ACC has approved them for non ejection seat guys. But you have to wear the patrol cap, wings on your chest, ir flag on the right sleeve. Biggest kicker is that you can't stop off base in them, and that you have to already have them issued to wear them. The unit can't buy them for you to wear at home station.
  9. That's how the AF did it back when Corpus was still open. Very fair imo.
  10. Yes they are. Due soon to the wings iirc. Which will make for sure interesting quick turns on guys who will sadly probably be passed over again since there hasn't been any time to fix anything that could help make them stronger. After this board in dec the next one will be in a year. Don't know why they delayed the 05 board a year only to speed up the following 4 year group boards. They did delay the 04 Lt Col boards though.
  11. Duck, I could have swarn that I saw it updated at the end of the month to say early to mid Jul, which we all know that just means some time later but expect it to shift again. But I'm off now and my gaf factor is about pegged with this now since they have been dragging their lovely feet on getting this out to us.
  12. I think Four Fans is saying that he will miss the tactical flying. That is what most of us will miss.
  13. Not surprised at all considering the shit show of announcement of the one back in Feb of 16. That one rolled a while.
  14. Do you have the reference for this? Cause I would love to start wearing mine out in the deployed location north of Vegas.
  15. They do have dets at these schools. My class if I remember correctly maybe commissioned one my year. They just are not getting them to stay in the program which was a problem at my det.
  16. Hispeed, you are correct if I am also reading it the same. Sounds like they are going to try and make it like OHA which doesn't work out so well for us overseas. Housing is going to get all jacked up. Might as well give us a utility allowance also to help pay for some of the bills now that our bah is getting reduced. Unless they keep raising it baised on rentals in the areas, but I doubt it.
  17. The herk community has similar briefs and good luck explanations in the 3-3 about this. How to use the bud to know if you are going to clear a ridge and the bank vs ground impact charts are very import when flying the bigger planes.
  18. Not just with the RPA's. I've seen guys who look good on paper suck at most everything including their primary job of flying the mission. Just refuse gov qtrs and quote the jtr's.
  19. That is true if you are in a normal squadron. But if you are in training they won't/don't have to give you the time off. Now if you have free day then go get the car. I only say this because I have had it happen both times I was shipping/picking up my car from the VPC's while in training.
  20. I am doing something similar to this, OCONUS to CONUS with a TDY enroute. They don't get per diem while you are TDY. They should be on your orders due to the pcs w/ TDY enroute. As long as they are you can get a TLF and have it paid for. As for shipping your car, you should get the letter saying they will ship it to Seattle, which should be the closest port to Fairchild. From there when you drop off the car you can tell the VPC that you would like it shipped to Dallas, or where ever since Seattle is the farthest and going to cost the most. I did this and they had no problems with sending the car to Dallas. Now if you can send it early to have it waiting on you that would be best, due to the fact that you probably won't get any time off to go get it and rental cars ere aren't cheap for long term. As to the unaccompanied baggage. I hope that TMO will give your family the weight allowance. TMO at ETAR wouldn't due to they said they aren't on my TDY enroute orders, which they were. I ended up doing a small household goods shipment to the TDY locale with the stuff we needed due to the baby coming and that stuff wasn't allowed in the unaccompanied shipment. Plus my TDY is long enough where my stuff is in long term storage versus sitting at my pcs location then getting put into storage. Also if you are shipping alcohol then you will need all the paperwork, but you can't put it in your long term storage. Which helped out with me sending it to my TDY local with the small household goods shipment. You will get the BAH 2 rate till you check in to the new base to get that BAH rate. Hope this helps.
  21. You will be offered continuation due to all pilots being critically manned now. Since we all didn't see the writing on the wall well before AFPC.
  22. I can answer your last question. You keep on moving up at the new rank and you can punch at 20 if you want. I knew 2 guys that got continued as Capt's, both made Maj, and 1 even made Lt Col. Granted they were nav's and not pilots.
  23. I just finished my ATP at TCC also. I'll second what Jango said about TCC. After talking with the chief pilot Robert, which he has been pushing for a second plane, their best bet is to have guys who went through tell the school they need a second plane. He could keep his planes and instructors busy with just the ATP guys till the end of July. There is a second Seminole across the ramp that they will rent if their's goes down for mx when guys are there if it's open. But supper easy and Jennifer was great to check with. Pm me if you want more details, they have openings from Feb on currently. I was the first guy they had book almost 2 months out. But they are starting to book up. No wait list yet like Memphis but I expect it to get busier as the time gets closer.
  24. For the guys who stayed at Las Ventanas, did you just refuse quarters on base and have something set up with them? Also what did you do for furniture? A couple of the places I have found who sublease out from them are charging an arm and leg for it. As to where the 75% periderm wouldn't even cover it. Thanks
  25. The form that HD is referring to is an 1881. Just put the dates on it and the required info stating what chapter is is under and submit to your local friendly finance office.
