  1. Now the page's "submit comments" function is broken. Go figure.
  2. More about the XL drop... There were actually 3x C-17s to Charleston...the others are correct, though The B-1 to Dyess came with an MC-12
  3. Low-hanging fruit. Everybody can probably agree that a lot of salutes look like shit. The shoes get to feel vindicated about emphasizing such a critically important aspect of C&C. Everybody else gets to storm the keep over stupid priorities. Oh, and the writer gets an OPR bullet.
  4. Two bottles if they oversped the windshield wipers.
  5. Well, they requisitioned a fair bit of crazy last year when they picked up an old gunship pilot of some infamy. I think he fulfilled their crazy quota through FY 2013.
  6. You're right. We should have gone for 9. In a T-6.
  7. Yeah...then, the other guy decides it's a good day to pull 5Gs in the closed pull.
  8. All I know is that it aint a good T-6 cross country unless that green light on the 100% switch isn't staring at you on the next day.
  9. Accidental or not, that thread title is Unrelated note: al Ahram ("The Pyramid", aka the Cairo Post) is a decent paper, but had a completely shitty website for most of the past decade. It's nice that they seem to be working to improve it these days.
  10. What a dumbass. Stripclubs are out to squeeze every possible penny out of you, through any means available? Really?? No way! Funny thing is, if he sticks to the bit about being too drunk to enter into a legal contract, (which a credit card transaction is, more or less), he stands a decent chance at getting at least some of that $19k back.
  11. On the up side, I hear those guys have a much easier time getting a type rating in the Goodyear blimp. Also, I'm guessing Roswell doesn't know much about how cabins are pressurized (where the air comes from and how often it's cycled). 1 Apr or not, that idea screams BS right out of the gate.
  12. What's the big deal? I hear BQZip's dad is a member of that particular eccentric organization.
  13. Heh. Advo brief. Like almost everything at OTS, it's really not very hard. It's just a matter of finding/making enough time to practice it a few times in order to keep it on topic for the prerequisite 6-9 minutes.
  14. Even back in Phase 1 there were 4 people in the class who claimed that NSAv or U-28 would be their preferred drop. One went to Rucker, one to -38s and the other two to Tones. As far as I can tell, the 3 still eligible are still very much interested.
  15. Hmm. On the other hand, the 4th time around, it was because they regrew the damned things from her own DNA. Homegrown terrorism analogy?
  16. I used vMPF a few hours ago and it was working. That was probably around 2300Z.
  17. Magnets. How do they work, anyways?
  18. We heard about that at DLF...hell of a mechanical failure, especially if they were able to reproduce the problem on the ground. My impression was that the upgrade timelines were getting so ridiculous that they sent a few of them back to AETC after only a couple years (rather than having them spend an inordinate amount of time as a CP). At least two of them were sent to DLF for this reason (one to T-6s and one to T-1s). My info is all second-hand, so an actual C-17 pilot can probably shed some more light on the subject.
  19. I dunno about the Navy regs, but if it were a guy and a girl caught together in the same bed in tech school, there would probably be an LOC, maybe an LOR, but kicking them out? Yeah right.
  20. Funny, but point missed. I don't give two shits if the guy driving behind me knows which wars I'm a vet of (bumper stickers, etc.)...it's a tiny but preventable risk, regardless of where you are. Why take it? An NRA bumper sticker would probably be a more effective deterent. Anyways, that's complete apples/oranges from the original topic. , gentlemen.
  21. Maybe I'm not following, but...would you be using a moving map and/or IAPs for the entire 18 hour sortie? If you only plan to cross-check your GPS position every half hour or so, it should have a negligible effect on battery life.
  22. I was wondering about that. Nothing in the 217 or 202 prohibit it...just something about a 6 month evaluation period being required before it can be rolled out as a standard, or something.
  23. 2. This has the potential to reach epic status on par with the "don't drink, because it offends me" LT at Buckley.
  24. How often do you guys make it over to Offutt?
