AAL TA language is out. Some obvious gains in pay and LTD at the cost of ODANs/split duty assignments, QOL items, and electronic notification (among many other things). There's no plan b, unfortunately.

Certainly! My point is that I don't believe the AAL pilot group is actually upset enough to do anything about the situation. Management reneging at the last second on already agreed upon items or implementation of specific portions of a contract is due in part to their moral bankruptcy but also because they know they can get away with it. The operation will continue to run on schedule and unimpeded no matter the level of skullduggery perpetrated by management.

This isn't directed at you, Brabus, but what difference does it make if the pilot group knows it or not? Look at AAL's on time performance and completion factors (which management's bonuses are tied to). Are those figures indicative of a pilot group that's actually angry?

Wish that wasn't so close to reality. The odds of APA pilots getting drastic improvements on work rules are near zero. Just take a look at AAL's on time/completion factor over the past couple months coupled with their most recent quarterly revenue...It's laughable that guys are demanding qol carve outs while at the same time picking up open time for straight pay. The only hope is one day all the investors in AAL will demand a management change.

What're you boys doing with bonds? Series I are paying almost 10%; 6 month treasuries are at or near 4%. Any reason to even have CDs if they're paying the same amount as treasuries? JPow is planning on raising rates through the end of the year it sounds like.

With how busy the summer has been, how's everyone fared at their respective carriers with trip trading/dropping pairings? My buddies at SWA say they haven't had as much success as they've had historically. Please post your bidding percentage for reference.

What's the status of the 76th and 78th? I keep hearing that they're going to shutdown once the NDAA is released.

This is an extremely significant point; the airlines have become a government subsidized cartel, and the normal market forces that would typically clear out the dead weight are no longer in the system. The irony is that the RLA likely exacerbates the issue by not allowing any work actions.

In short, a U.S. Supreme Court decision in June of 2018 triggered a chain reaction of new laws governing the collection of sales tax on orders shipped to you from out-of-state retailers. Prior to the aforementioned Supreme Court decision, we were only required to collect state sales tax on orders shipping to an address within California, the same state in which our BGASC headquarter offices are physically located (aka our "physical nexus"). This was because back in 1992, the Supreme Court set a precedent for how each state would deal with online retailers in the case of "Quill Corp v. North Dakota". The court ruled in favor of Quill Corp, ruling that the company did not need to collect tax on sales in North Dakota as they had no physical presence within the state. Flash forward to June 21, 2018, the day that the Supreme Court announced a new decision in the "South Dakota v. Wayfair Inc." case. South Dakota argued that it was losing out on local sales taxes because consumers were spending more money shopping online with out-of-state companies than they were in local brick-and-mortar stores. SCOTUS decided in favor of South Dakota, ruling that now economic activity (such as a certain number of sales made to a state) is considered "economic nexus" and can trigger a sales tax collection obligation. South Dakota blazed a new trail, and other states have followed close behind. Now, online retailers are required to adapt to the varying state sales tax rules and regulations across the United States. For precious metals dealers this is exceptionally complex as there are special rules and regulations governing the collection of sales tax on precious metals bullion for each state. I'll front end load with the fact that you probably can't go wrong. This career, especially when treated as part time, eclipses almost every job out there. That said, consider the following. I have little confidence AA will expand PHX. It is a company helmed by low rent bean counters; they'll trip over a pile of gold doubloons to pick up wooden nickels. An example: How long has the hiring/retirement wave been discussed? Should it have caught anyone by surprise? Well, it caught AA management off their guard, and they shut down their Phoenix training facility despite having the data. That place would be worth its weight in platinum right now. If you pick PHX and want to do any other flying at AA you will have to commute. Captain upgrade, widebody, anything other than A320, those will all force you to another base. I would not put money on AA getting a new contract in under 24 months. I know very little on the topic, but AA is supposed to be getting new scheduling/trip trading software that's allegedly worse than what they have now. Hopefully someone else can speak intelligently to it. If you want fly out of PHX be warned: America West produced some of the worst pilots I've had the displeasure of flying with. By the same token, I've sat in the jumpseat with SWA many times, and they almost always seem reasonably competent. Retirements matter most if the seniority list doesn't shrink. AA won't be able to do any growth hiring for some time due to the fact the seniority list shrank a great deal during covid. Management is trying to get everyone excited about all the pilots that are getting recruited; however, all those people for the next 18 months will barely cover what the company is making up for since spring 2020. That's the worst of it for AA. The plus side is meteoric seniority movement, good overnights, easy flying, and a great job overall if you don't let yourself get caught up in the bullshit. SWA is hiring for growth; that can get you stuck at the bottom of the seniority list for a long time. SWA is not the same company Herb founded. Hopefully they can hang onto what's left of their culture. SWA typically has much better scheduling flexibility. Why mention all of this? Because despite how tremendous it is to get paid to fly jets, no matter where you end up, the above statements (along with more creative complaints) will be brought up CONSTANTLY on the flight deck. Then you'll start to second guess your choice of carrier; do yourself a favor: Don't. Bloom where you're planted; enjoy your days off and live your best life.

Would be nice to see a balanced ticket, but Haley is a warhawk (especially compared to Gabbard). I doubt either of them would budge from their stance on foreign policy.
