  1. One of the more interesting things I've learned this weekend. I wouldn't have known if I didn't look it up after you wrote that.
  2. I didn't know Canadians were so serious aboot lacrosse. Maybe this is eh test to see who gets to go baby seal clubbing when the season opens.
  3. Or just don't go romping around downtown Baltimore drunk (or sober) after the sun sets. At least until the AC-130 is in orbit.
  4. Baltimore tourist beaten and stripped naked as onlookers encourage the perps. Spike Lee said to be enroute to start a rally for the victim and film Do the Right Thing pt 2. https://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/caught_on_video_crowd_laughs_as_tourist_beaten_stripped_and_robbed
  5. I lament the fact that Hollywood tripe is our most identifiable export. I didn't know a thing about the Falklands situation until 48 hours ago, when I actually did some research and also watched those videos that M2 posted. It's a fascinating case study. You guys sailed 8000 miles across the globe to reclaim land, got your job done, and then moved on with your lives. Solid work. Additionaly, Airpower was showcased as an integral part of the modern military equation. It couldn't be considered in isolation as a "supporting" role.
  6. Nah, man, I haven't. Sounds intriguing, though; I'll check it out. All I know about Mags is that I had a buddy from the northern part of England and he hated her with a vicious passion, but he was 100% in agreeance with her move on the Falklands.
  7. I read an article the other day that alluded to the fact that we were initially hesitant to support the Brits. Did you get that sentiment while you were over there at the time?
  8. Literally impossible and here's why: https://itunes.apple....sts/id215717216 If you've got a commute or you need to kill some time in the AOR, download the 12th podcast on the link. Chuck Spinney is interviewed by George Kenney for about 1.5 hours. He clearly articulates how absurdly flawed our procurement process for all our weaponry is and why it won't change. He also highlights the issues we dealt with in the B-1. Interesting stuff.
  9. Here's a little nugget of brutality. If she doesn't get that college scholarship she wanted, she can work as a bouncer at a seedy nightclub in East L.A.
  10. A while back I posted an article about the model that thought it'd be a good idea to walk face first into the moving prop of a reciprocating engine. Initially, I gave her the benefit of the doubt, realizing that it wouldn't be that hard of a mistake to make especially at night when you're not used to being around aircraft. Now all my pity has been drained as it appears that she's suing the company that operated the prop job. Not so shocking. https://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/46870427/ns/today-today_news/#.T3JcCo7w-jE
  11. Ahhhnold's dvd commentary from T3.
  12. That's the kind of apology I'm talking about; them saying, "Sorry, we kind of forced your hand on that one."
  13. Standing by for apology.
  14. Where'd you find it? I've looked several times on Amazon, and it always costs into the triple digits.
  15. Yes, it's astounding. "Mind of War" by Grant T. Hammond is also very good.
  16. A Marine platoon is in hotwater after posing with an SS flag. The Marines said that they used the SS to represent "Scout Sniper", so I'm guessing these dudes are with STA platoon. I'm all about Freedom of the Press, but if a "journalist" wants to write an article about any of our boys downrange, they should have to go live and patrol with them for a year. It's pretty easy to make scathing comments from your mom's basement when the biggest danger you face is the local barista screwing up your order at Starbucks. https://news.yahoo.com/us-marines-posed-nazi-symbol-afghanistan-185101573.html

Apparently some short film (about 12 minutes long) about female hunters from the South made it into Sundance. A couple of the featured ladies are pretty attractive. Vid's halfway to the bottom in the link. https://movies.yahoo....-172532156.html
  18. Competition for one of these slots is steep enough amongst guys that live close. If you're not willing to drop everything and unequivocally make flying for the ARC your main priority over the next several years, you're probably going to get passed up by the dudes who won't think twice about it.
  19. Thanks for posting this.
  20. Huge 2 on that. I'm sure you have several times already, but go over the contract once more. Every jot and tittle. Once you know it forward and backwards, bring it to the property manager and kindly ask where it specifically states the "no roommate" clause. Put the onus back on the owner.
  21. Does anyone know if Olds and Boyd ever met each other or crossed paths?
  22. So you're saying these are the units that might be on the chopping block?
  23. I saw my friend go through the same thing. FAIPs, some of whom hadn't been out of UPT or PIT more than a year, were giving a rated combat pilot shit because they were on a power trip. He was landing in hot LZs in Iraq, saving marines' lives while these douche bags were in still junior high trying to steal a kiss from Suzie Rottencrotch.
  24. Interesting. I have a good friend who was a CW3 and just finished FWQ about 3 weeks ago. I wonder how it's a budgetary issue, considering the FWQ dudes get less flights. Seems to me like it would be worth leaving the program open at one of the UPT bases, from a financial standpoint. Rainman, how necessary is the FWQ program, in your estimate? Is it overkill to have guys this experienced go through an expedited UPT process with all three phases of training? Would it be more beneficial/cost effective to have them skip T-6s and go straight to T-1s or go directly to T-1s and then to the FTU?
