  1. Good find; I hadn't heard of that before.
  2. So what's the actual restriction? Will they only give you an SIC type?
  3. I'm not normally a fan of the Huffington Post, but they put together some interesting pictures, juxtaposing photos of modern France with those of D-Day: https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/06/06/d-day-landing-sites-pictures_n_5458026.html
  4. Oh, good. That was definitely worth our $3 trillion visit over there then.
  5. Last time I looked, the legacy carriers on AirlineApps don't recognize restricted ATPs; they only allow you to claim your ATP if it's full up. Can't speak for PilotCredentials, but my guess is that it's similar.
  6. All of AFPC?
  7. FAR 61.159 and FAR 61.160
  8. The Pentagon Wars by Col James Burton was recently re-released for the Kindle. It should be mandatory reading for anyone in the armed services. It's got some stellar first hand insight into Col Boyd's theories and impact, the inner workings of the military-industrial-congressional complex, and how we got where we're at today as a military. Among other things, Col Burton put his entire career and livelihood on the line to ensure the Bradley Fighting Vehicle wouldn't be a coffin on tracks for our ground pounders. It's been a while, but I remember the HBO movie based on the book being decent.
  9. What about in terms of how Russia will react to the sanctions? You think it's going to precipitate them to attempt to annex some other countries? Would we even do anything if Putin attempted that?
  10. What kind of consequences are we looking at on the world stage for economic sanctions?
  11. And that's no reason to keep any war-fighting product in the DoD's inventory. Good links in the post, Moose.

  14. If you're getting a restricted ATP, the actual restriction is defined in FAR 61.167: It shouldn't ever really be a factor because you'll meet the hourly requirement before you're flying as PIC in a 121 operation. Also, like Jaded said, make sure that you fill out a paper 8710 for your checkride; IACRA hasn't caught up to the recent changes made in the FAR, so there isn't a "box" to check for a restricted ATP. Good luck.
  15. Negative, the 750 hour ATP rule for military members is in effect currently for the PRACTICAL test (checkride). Like jazzdude said, the thing that changes in August is the requirement for the written NOT the practical. So, take the written now, while there is no prerequisite.
  16. Negative, and there's nothing stopping you from getting your ATP at 750 hours if you graduated from UPT; the 750 hours allows you to include civilian time per FAR 61.160.
  17. Dave Ramsey offers solid advice, but if you want to make some real coin, I suggest Wu Tang Financial...Diversify those bonds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_rDtmT246s

  19. Good find; I might actually pick this up. I definitely will if I can write it off on my taxes...
  20. Yes, this is true. Ultra-extreme is sanguine with subtle tones of ecru; they modeled it after the color crews said they saw right before their careers ended.
  21. Yeah, man, my complaint was directed towards them. During an AIB, will someone from TACC shoulder any of the responsibility if that person signed off on ORM that was in the highest category? Do they even get talked to about it? "Well, the pilots took the jet even though they were in the ORM "ultra-extreme" category; better just chalk this one up to pilot error/poor pilot judgment."
  22. ORM is such a joke. It should be completely transparent to aircrew unless we need to actually use it for safety of flight issues. How many times have we said that here?
