Managua, Nicaragua - Nicaragua is a dump, extremely depressing to see the state people are living in. However, The Intercontinental is a sweet stay. Be warned, avoid the strip bars. The Nicaraguans are budding capitalists, and a 30 min stay with a couple (or three) beers apiece for four crew dogs ended up being a 160$ bar bill! When we protested the rate, and tried to divide the bill among us, they recalculated and handed us four new bills whose total was higher than the first time. We threw what cash we had at them and started walking home until we talked a cabbie into taking us home for what change was left. Biggest mistake was following Army guys to a club, we should have stuck to the places the hotel recommended as western clubs. Food wasn't bad at the restaurant with the big tree in the courtyard next to the Icon, and there is a mall across the street as well. The local beer, Victoria, isn't bad either.
