* Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 So I've heard some good stories, but was wondering what the best tricks are that you have seen a student pull to get back into the flight room after a solo?
Fozzy Bear Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Ah, man, that's kinda dick. You don't want to be the one dude in your class that DOESN'T get dunked. Fight, run, etc., but you gotta take your licks and get wet (sts). That's what UPT is all about, especially as early in the program as initial solo. That being said, at Laughlin, you could hook maintenance up with a case of suds and they'll make sure to pick you up and drive you to BOPS or the main T-6/T-38 building, where you can sneak in thru the life support room. Or, just run really fast.

brabus Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I heard of one dude recently who parked his car in a parking lot near the end of the T-6s and left his keys in the ignition. Then on his way back after leaving the plane, he asked one buddy to carry his g-suit and then apparently the other one was looking at something. The guy took off, ran to his car, got in and hauled ass back to the squadron. Of course his two friends had no chance on foot and apparently most of the class was busy simming, flying, etc. so he got back. But I agree w/ Fozzy, it seems lame to be the one guy who didn't get dunked at UPT. I don't know about Vance, or even specific squadron/flight, but maybe *'s situation is replicated here. No idea.
HossHarris Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 I got some MX buds to sneak me off the flight line, then a bro at an electronics store boxed me up in a TV box and delivered me to the flight room. Round trip in less than an hour. Still got dunked, but drank for free that friday
Guest ACJ7464 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 A guy in our class went to LSI and put on a blue flight suit, fake mustache, and baseball hat, but all to no avail. It was the funniest set of pictures we had from solo dunking.
Champ Kind Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 The only guy that made it back in our flight did so because literally no one wanted to even try to dunk him. He acted like that big of a D-bag. Naturally, he comes running into the flight room, out of breath, and was yelling, "I want my beer! I made it back in!" The 5 or 6 people in the flightroom just kind of looked up from what we were doing, raised our eyebrows and/or shrugged, then went back to studying/BSing/whatever it was that we were doing. He never got his beer, and he bitched & moaned to the Flt/CC about it. He even made up a little list of what kind of beer he wanted from everyone. I say again, what a D-bag.
Smokin Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 We had a guy make it back in because everyone else was briefing, flying, or at the sims- just lucky on timing- he even went back in as if it was after a normal flight, filled out the 781 first and everything. We had another guy do the whole LSI flight suit thing, got him within 6.9 inches of the flight room before being caught. The one story I've heard of was a guy that had friends from another class take a full paper recycling bin/cart thing outside, buried him in that and pushed it into the flight room. The best one I heard of (which is probably not true), a guy got into an adjacent room, moved the ceiling panel, climbed over the wall, and dropped into the flight room from the ceiling. Problem was, he picked the wrong spot and dropped into the flight room next to his who was having a standup or something. Also; if you're flying tweets, be carefully trying to get back in if you're still wearing your chute. A couple classes behind us accidentally popped a parachute in life support.
Guest Robes Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Let me see: Two people (one a former college fullback) are coming back from their solo at the same time... and so everyone is stepping up for the challenge. As they come rounding the corner everyone sees the football player and takes him down. However, they do not see the second guy shouting "Get him, Get Him!" as he waltzes past everyone. My favorite one was a guy who saw an enlisted person who he went through tech school with back in his E days. Guy parked his car near the flightline the night before the solo and drove to the E's office and changed into an old set of enlisted BDUs, grabbed a couple of boxes and strolled into the flight room. Oh yeah, the flight room was locked since people were sick of waiting on him... But alas, an IP (his assigned IP no less) unknowingly walks out of the flight room right into the guy and holds the door open for an enlisted person in BDUs!
FUSEPLUG Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 A dude in my class was Security Forces in his enlisted days. After soloing, he walked from the flighline to the cop shop (chute and all) and had one of the guys on duty throw him in handcuffs and drive him back to the squadron in the cop car. The cop escorted our 'cuffed classmate through the halls of the squadron to the flight room. That definately got some looks from IP's and other students in the hallway. Needless to say, we weren't going to let SF get him into the flightroom. He was promptly tackled at the doorway, the handcuffs were removed, and he went for a swim. It was pretty cool of the SF guys to play along (probably the most exciting thing that happened to them all week on an AETC base).
