Guest Swingin Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Cadet fell off ship re-enacting movie scene The Associated Press DENVER — An Air Force Academy cadet who plunged about 50 feet from a cruise ship balcony into the ocean with a female passenger thanked his rescuers Tuesday but didn’t discuss the details of what happened. Ernesto Guzman, 22, and Celeste Clarice Partee, 20, fell from the balcony of Partee’s cabin on Princess Cruises’ Grand Princess about 150 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas, on March 25. KWGN-TV in Denver reported that the pair were re-enacting a famous scene from the movie “Titanic” when they fell. Guzman took off his clothes to stay afloat, the station reported. Both were rescued by boats launched from the ship. Guzman issued a statement through the academy thanking Princess Cruises and the U.S. Coast Guard. “The combination of their quick response and my water survival training at the United States Air Force Academy combined to save my life during those five hours in the Gulf of Mexico,” said Guzman, a junior. University of Colorado spokesman Bronson Hilliard confirmed the identity of Partee, a sophomore from Little Rock, Ark., but said he had no other information. Princess Cruises has declined to discuss the incident. “We have concluded that their going overboard was an accident, and we consider the matter closed,” the cruise line said in a March 26 statement. ---------- And the rest of the story....
Flare Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Damn. If I knew this kid was coming to Sheppard, I'd stick around another 6 months just to make fun of him everyday. Nice work there, Leo.
Beaver Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I bet the INS met him at the dock when the Coast Guard brought him back.
HerkDerka Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 the pair were reenacting a famous scene from the movie “Titanic” by leaning over the ship’s bow when they fell. Ouch. It's not going to be fun trying to live that one down for the rest of his career. Guzman took off his clothes to stay afloat, the station reported. My water survival training at the United States Air Force Academy combined to save my life. Oh yeah, that was the first thing they taught. HD
Bluto Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 (edited) And thats why I didn't goto the Academy. Edited April 4, 2007 by Bluto
Marjackson82 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Excuse the low situational awareness, but if it was an AF Academy cadet then why is this in there?: "University of Colorado spokesman Bronson Hilliard confirmed the identity of Partee, a sophomore from Little Rock, Ark., but said he had no other information."

He should've fallen on the sword and not said what school he was from....I guess Raiman is right

An Air Force Academy cadet who plunged about 50 feet from a cruise ship balcony into the ocean with a female passenger. The he in the story was a USAFA cadet. The she was a student at CU, it appears. Haha... What about the chika? Sounds like she pulled through somehow too. "Sorry about that babe, but you're on your own now! I gots mad water survival skeels I'm about to employ up in heeyah... Good luck and watch out for those sharks!" Cheers, Hydro
M2 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 He shouldn't have any surprises if/when it is time for a callsign... Cheers! M2

Guest JLUCB Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 How I spent Spring Break by Ernesto Guzman Seriously, you gotta love the internet these days (or if you are Ernesto Guzman, you'd hate it). I just hope that he isn't trying to become a Rated Officer...
Guest Doolittle365 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 My buddy was on the cruise liner during this incident and gave me the inside scoop. Let's just say, "reenacting Titanic" was less embarassing than the real reason for the fall/accident. When my friend came back from spring break, this was the first thing he told me and all I could do was hold my side and laugh at the fact that it was an academy kid. Gotta love the zoo.
M2 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'd be much happier telling everyone I fell fifty feet off a boat at night while getting laid. Even if I really was reenacting Titanic I'd lie and say I was getting it on and fell. At least you'd get a cool name for having near-fatal sex on a boat at night. Now everyone just thinks you're gay. '2' Cheers! M2
Guest Bender Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 35678920101213.... irrationale. Wait! If you consider "bling-bling" to be clothing....I've some dudes that would sink... BENDY

Hmm... he took off his clothes to "stay afloat." LOL Suuuuuuuuuuuure. Coastguard: "What happened to your clothes young man?" Guzman: "Err...I, uh, took em off to stay afloat! That's it!" Girl: *blushes and looks away* Coastguard: "M'kay..."
Techsan Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 This, my friends, is why girls and academy cadets do not mix.
Guest Dennis Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Happened to run across this gem two years later. Ernesto Guzman would have been a Lt by now, but the only Ernesto Guzman that shows up in the global is a civilian at Lackland. So I take it he lost his comission after this naked wet romp?
08Dawg Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Need pics of girl. 2. The esteemed assembly must judge if said chica was worth a fifty-foot plunge into the sea.

Probably changed his name to avoid the embarassment/harassment for an entire career.
