You'll see the photo of a personalized 5x7 card Gen Pace left for a fallen comrade(s) at the Vietnam Wall. I wish not to spoil it for those that haven't seen or read the brief article. Character. All of us can learn from his simple display of humility. Thanks for your service sir.

No, there has been a lot of media coverage of Pace's last day as CJCS. Not to spoil the ending, but he went to the Vietnam Memorial and left some 3x5 cards for several of the fallen Marines from his platoon when he was a lieutenant. For those who don't read the AF TImes, you can read the story here and see the pics here. If I am not mistaken, the Smithsonian Institution collects all items left at the Wall and archives them. Guest Robes Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 What a class act General Pace is. As for the items left at the wall, they are collected & inventoried every night by park rangers. Items are stored in Maryland at the Memorial's Museum Resource Center. Memorials people have left are also displayed at the Smithsonian as well as the following if you are in the area: The Museum of Our National Heritage - Lexington, MA The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library - Grand Rapids, MI The Jersey Explorer Children's Museum - East Orange, NJ Imperial War Museum - London, England
herkbum Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Flew him around Afghanistan last year and I agree, class act! Not your typical General Officer. Looked like he felt uncomfortable with the special treatment he received.
