Wolf424 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 So I don't know what he's going to talk about, but I would put my two cents on BS irrelevant garbage or self-inflating tales. Can't be much worse than "Lorenz on Leadership". If you've heard it, you know why.
stract Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Can't be much worse than "Lorenz on Leadership". If you've heard it, you know why. Mess up, fess up I was on the Dean's other list 6 of 8 semesters Hey Gang! Ahhh G-Lo...
Guest SATCOM Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 From LOL:..."Once their training was complete, instructors activated a switch that disengaged the simulation. In this situation, the switch did not make the entire interactive experience disappear. Although the smoke cleared and sirens stopped wailing, the 'original stark, bare room' still held the medical training dummies. It was more than enough to get my heart racing...Don't let your vision disappear like the end of a holodeck simulation exercise." We have a similar system in my unit and it's NOTHING like this pipe dream. More like HYPE-dream. Yes you can inject these med dummies (they cost a crap load) with fluids etc, and their eyes move. It's kind of creepy actually. You can also change their sex (don't ask). But to say that Lorenz experienced the holo-deck is misleading at best.

M2 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Wasn't the Chief of Staff at the time aware of what was going on with this guy? If so, why didn't he do something about it?? BAK 12 Rumor was his wife is related to a SecDef. It is about the only way this douchebag could ever achieve four-star rank. Hell, under normal circumstances he shouldn't have made it past Lt Col...
Springer Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 I guess I will be getting a chance to talk to him in person, since he is going to be the guest speaker at my UPT graduation. These threads don't sound too promising. Just graduating from UPT? How did you find time to read this message board?
Guest LTB@UPT Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 If you really want to know how, PM me. But the biggest thing is, you need to know how to make time to relax. Van Wilder said it best, slightly modified of course,"You can't take pilot training too seriously. You'll never make it out alive."

Fud Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) I just started the new SOS course 20, and they have a couple of Foglesong articles throughout the course. I never knew or served under him, but know many similar to him. It really makes me question the validity of a course like this, and also makes me wonder how so many good people get passed up for promotion. Edited: Should I really expect to learn much from a course like this anyway... Edited July 8, 2009 by beast05
zach braff Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I just started the new SOS course 20, and they have a couple of Foglesong articles throughout the course. Wait, are these lessons about when leadership fails (ie. B-52 crash, Iraq Helo shootdown, etc) or about great leadership we should take the example from? If it's the latter I fear for those taking course 20. Glad I knocked out 28 just in time... zb

Edited: Should I really expect to learn much from a course like this anyway... Were said articles written by Doc Douchebag himself? I strongly suspect so, as he enjoyed writing about how great he was... Pure fucking fiction! If you want the reality of the situation (something SOS tends to overlook), then read this thread or ask anyone who has been under his "command." About the only lesson he could serve would be one that demonstrates when fragging is permissible!
Guest LTB@UPT Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Actually been there done that, was a DG, got my fighter (F4) some 36 years ago. Had a great time in UPT (Willie). Second best assignment only preceded by my European tour. So did you stress out about it or relax and take it one day at a time?
Springer Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) So did you stress out about it or relax and take it one day at a time? A classmate and I moved off base into a great apartment complex (think bikinis, water volleyball, daiquiris) as a way of dealing with the long days, stress if you want to call it that. Sorry for the thread creep. Read the whole thread on "Doc." We all start as equals in UPT; always wonder what makes someone turn into a dickhead. Edited July 9, 2009 by Springer
Guest Tracy Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) Hey "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" Let's play Phone-a-Friend, and I am your expert: Here goes...AT&T, put the expert on the line...ring, ring... I was the OSS DO at Columbus AFB when Doc was the Wing CC in 1993. He told us that he had COMBAT hours in the F-16. As you know, flight records is in the OSS, so about three of us checked his flight records in the file cabinet, and found out he had double-digit hours (way less than 100 hours) in the F-16, and NO, repeat NO COMBAT hours, yet everything about his speaches was about COMBAT. Said he was in "combat"...WHAT A BAG OF CRAP LIAR. SO LET'S PUT THIS TO REST--Regis Philbin--"FINAL ANSWER"....DOC FOGLESONG HAS NO COMBAT HOURS, and Regis, as the audience can clearly see, NO air medals either. Tracy Former OSS DO Trace That's was a well-established fact about he-whose-name-shall-also-not-be-spoken(a former CSAF renown for new uniforms is the original HWNSNBS, y'know, the one that scored a DUI later on in life that never made the news), but HWNSANBS did finally score some "combat hours" by being a box lunch consumer aboard and RC-135 over Kosovo or some other neutralized airpsace. About the only productive contribution HWNSANBS ever provided was comic relief on AFN when he was fucking up USAFE, but even then he screwed it up by overplaying his cards. Now that Time has made this forum more famous, maybe HWNSANBS will get curious and Google himself on here (the decrepit old bastard loves to read about himself), and he'll learn how much the vast majority of his "troops" hated his fucking guts and thought him to be the ultimate assclown! Cheers! M2

Guest Tracy Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 M2, Yes, I know the DUI skinny boy in Oregon who reinvented the flight suit. He's on YouTube talking down the Republican Party in hopes of an appointment by our new socialist prez. McP's endorsements didn't work. I am using my real name in hopes that Foggy WILL Google and see what I think about him, HE DEFINITELY knows "Tracy". About 10 years (1993) after he was the Wing CC at Columbus AFB, he flew into a base where I was stationed in about 2003. At that time, I think he was a three-button as 7th AF CC. I was on the lineup at the DV mat outside base ops about 5th in the row of "hand-shakers". When he got toward number 4 in line, he glanced toward me and turned the other way and stopped hand-shaking the others. ALL BECAUSE HE COULDN'T FACE TRACY. That bastard couldn't look me in the eye. ALTHOUGH I HAD WON ALL THE AWARDS I COULD, Foggy did everything he could to not promote me, but IT DIDN'T WORK...there I stood. I didn't agree with his ways and didn't support him. In about 1993, he would take his Plymouth K-Car "staff car" out on the taxiway and rotate in circles trying to convince me that he was right. Those circular tire marks are probably still there. It was his way of trying to intimidate me. It was him arguing his point and me arguing mine. Foggy is very insecure, and can't face people head-on. His female executive officer once told me that he was the most insecure Colonel she had ever seen. When he gave DP's to the wrong people, and the best guys got P's, Foggy would not talk to the P's, even after they made 5 appointments to see him. He would tell his "elderly" secretary to change the appointment, and finally after the officer would not let it go, he would ask HIS SECRETARY to call the commander and tell the commander to tell the officer to STOP CALLING HIS OFFICE. What a weak jerk. Regulation "requires" the commander to tell the officer why he got the P or DP. Foggy treats his wife Mary Foglesong like crap too; he should be put up on charges of spousal abuse. Maybe she will Google her name and see this. Tracy

Opinions on leadership may be one thing, but verturing too far into the personal allegations may not be too good of an idea from a legal standpoint.

Good, hope he will read what I posted on the Miss State Univ blog when he was fired for being an Idiot there. I'm sure he will Google himself and read it. Here's a short list of the things Gen Robert H. "Doc" Foglesong Retired USAF did while at Miss State Univ. (I'm hoping to make the number one site in Google when he searches his name). As all know, he got "canned" at MSU and he's now living in the New Hope community near Columbus AFB MS. Here goes: Closing the library at 5pm on weeknights and on the weekends. Turning the lights off on campus in the middle of sexual assaults, including all lights being off after some night classes. Repairing all light fixtures so they would all match throughout the campus. Daffodils being pulled up, when contacted by students, he belittled students in emails and then blocked them being able to contact him...which students created a "save the Daffodils" site on Facebook. Newspapers being taken up when student newspaper ran about the architectural school suppression. Forcing articles off of the newspapers website. Cutting of the crate myrtles at Dudy Noble. Painting the fire hydrants. Painting the telephone boxes. Closing off the road by the presidents house. Tearing down art and architecture sculptures around campus. Making architectural (arch) students take projects out of windows. Painting windows at arch building so can’t see inside it from the street. Not allowing music for Super Bulldog weekend but allowing for his band to play. Not allowing drunk bus for students. Hiring of people like Amy Tuck and Jeffrey Rupp w/o no real experience or job duties. Hiring people that play in his band. Hiring his other followers who would do what he needed to get done, whether right or wrong. Running off alumni donors. Not addressing the Alumni meetings when they wanted to ask him WTF are you doing!! Firing LT, some like, some don’t (LT did the landscaping for years--Did not fit to Doc's taste). Spent thousands of dollars on REplanting flowers and shrubs to meet his personal taste. Hiring Greg Byrne who many think is under qualified. Had a room renovated so his band could practice in it--other needed renovations suffered. Not allow student association signs to be placed in front of the union because they were an “eyesore”, this is an MSU tradition. Not being able to get onto Facebook for one day. There were sites about MSU on Facebook. Doc had IT block FB. Flying from Starkville to Columbus AFB in the MSU jet for “Fun”. (Mr Show Off..Distance is about 25 miles. Low morale with many b/c he bullied people. Had an engineering project in mid-completion hauled to the dump w/o asking what it was. Not attending faculty senate meetings. Not showing up to appointments. Send out rude emails to students, but having IT block the students from replying to the emails. Cheers, Tracy Edited August 23, 2009 by Tracy
BQZip01 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Sounds like a bunch of reasonable things. I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with him [/sarcasm] Is Greg Byrne any relation to Bill Byrne (current Texas A&M Athletic director)?
