Guest Boom Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 How about bringing a blank checkbook with you to Finance, then filling out the check per their instructions (which they have at like every base's finance in the AOR). Easy.
Guest DDerrick51 Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 If only they could BRAC al udeid. The insaintity is not limited to there. I was escorting the Sec Def one day through Bdad. One the leg where he stopped off at BIAP, we remained airborne while he got out and the hawks landed. We then landed behiend the hawks. Catfish air starts trying to raise us saying we can't land there. We tell them we are with the "package" but the female just doesn't seem to get it. The girl continues with me trying to explain with the best OPSEC I can muster over a victor. Finaly she says we must depart now. To which I respond that I have flex mount 30mm that says that I am going no where. That settled the argument.
backseatdriver Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 If only they could BRAC al udeid. Nah - Doha's Committee of Fifty would ensure it stays open.
M2 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 HD is spot on, shit goes down but the wrong people get punished. Can't go after hadji, might hurt his feelings or insult the local goverment. God forbid we actually blame the guilty! So, since we have to do something, then take it out on our guys. Why not? There's not much they can do about it! Focus the attention on the source of the problem and it will get resolved; but beat the dog that didn't bite you and eventually he will bite you! Keeping some kid from eating because he doesn't have his dog tags on doesn't help anyone. It is amazing that some SNCOs and officers don't get fragged... Cheers! M2
Murph Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Nah - Doha's Committee of Fifty would ensure it stays open. Nice!
Guest Sandlapper Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Breaking News: Beer shortage at The Deid....2 beers per day UFN.
Guest Boom Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Breaking News: Beer shortage at The Deid....2 beers per day UFN. Right before I get there. .
HerkDerka Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Breaking News: Beer shortage at The Deid....2 beers per day UFN. That's how it starts. HD
Guest Safe&Clear Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 That's how it starts. HD Just be glad you have beer. I never had the luxury of being anywhere in theatre where booze was (officially) allowed. And then there's the bright side: there are so many tee-totalers in the military nowadays; If you get a couple of Baptists/ Mormons to give you THEIR two beers, next thing you know, ya got a six-pack! Happy times, happy times... (Disclaimer: I am a Baptist myself. So I know what I'm talkin about!)
Stiffler Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Just be glad you have beer. Im sick of that. The old "It could be worse!" That is the lamest excuse They take a beer away "Well at least you have TWO beers!" They take away another "Well at least you have ONE beer!" Then they take the last one "Well, at least you arent getting mortars!" Its all gay! WAY UBER GAY. Why cant they have too much beer, and ADD one! Why? because its run by a bunch of active duty D-bags

Vertigo Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 The two beer a rule is in effect because the distributor can't get the beer into the Deid. Add in the fact that there's an additional 2K+ people here because of the rotation; more people+low supply = cutting of rations. This cut is only temporary. 1

Why? because its run by a bunch of active duty D-bags I'm not there, I'm not active duty, soon, I won't even be wearing a uniform, however, can you not see the irony in your view? Uncle Sam (as f*cked up as he can be) is shipping/paying to ship BEER. It wasn't too long ago (historically speaking) when beans and bullets were all you were gonna get and that supply wasn't always assured on time. Yep, write your Congressman or the Washington Post. Think how THAT will play out..........
Stiffler Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Ya that was a booze fueled response, but ill leave it instead of "editing it for shame." If its a supply issue thats cool, the Died actually isnt too bad compared to other places (Manas). I just do get set off pretty quickly with new anti-alcohol rules. It seems that active duty base wide, its just getting more and more ridiculous, to include DIGIT-CON...or whatever, which is the new "CON" based on alcohol related incidents. I dont know what happened to letting "adults be adults." There is a cost, but thats the cost of freedom. IMHO. Sorry if i offended anyone. My response was definately a bit much
brickhistory Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I dont know what happened to letting "adults be adults." 100% agree!

Think how THAT will play out.......... I might write to him. I remember hearing stories from my Grandpa and other WWII vets who got rationed once a month, 2 cigars, a pack of cigarettes and some beer. If I need to pay more to offset the cost, I don't mind. I just want my beer after a long hard day of work.

I just want my beer after a long hard day of work. Ask a combat WWII vet (Guadalcanal, Bastogne, etc) how reliable supplies were. No disrespect to your Grandpa intended. Yeah, it was cool for Uncle Sam to send smokes and brew then, as it is now. But, c'mon.... And you guys deserve the or two after a day's work. No disputing that. Happy times, happy times... I wouldn't recommend that. It's a quick Article 15, and supposedly they are watching closely for that stuff. Fokkers.
Vertigo Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I wouldn't recommend that. It's a quick Article 15, and supposedly they are watching closely for that stuff. Fokkers. True enough... SF was doing "random ID checks" of EVERYONE at the BRA (how is it random if it involves everyone?) and giving breath tests to anyone who seemed under the influence. This was last weekend... FYI- we're back on 3 beers again. It was touch-n-go for a bit but the beer truck pulled through. 1
HerkFE Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 IMHO. Sorry if i offended anyone. My response was definately a bit much F that Stiffler. I thought you were spot on.
HerkDerka Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 SF was doing "random ID checks" of EVERYONE at the BRA (how is it random if it involves everyone?) and giving breath tests to anyone who seemed under the influence. UFB. HD
Stiffler Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Can you flipping imagine it. Breathalyzer at the died? Amazing. CMSGT Stupidpenis: "What, no alcohol related incidents in MONTHS??? Bring out the breathalyzer!" Airman Retardedface: "Oh ya! Ive always wanted to use this on an officer and feel more powerful (STS)" (STS mine) General Gaypantshead "Thats a great idea, we dont want people enjoying themselves in WAR!! Lets have another ATSO" I am personally so disguisted that I cant express my disguist in words. The sad and un-understandable thing is, someday one of you all reading this and agreeing with this post, will be in command, and you will change nothing. Because you want to be an 0-6
