Skitzo Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Reminds me of when one our ADOs was walking back to the dorm in December in his PTs, it was cold as all get out and he committed the sin of putting his hands in his pockets. A shoe summarily told him to take his hands out of his pockets. His response was why? It is cold as all get out. The response was that he might trip. He told him that was the stupidest reason he'd ever heard. The shoe turned out to be some first sergeant, and he had to get a talking to about it. Drive by REMFing was also humorous. How safe is it to yell at someone "REFLECTIVE BELT," while being behind the wheel of a vehicle? Man I wish he would have hit another vehicle. By the time my time was up over me and another guy were so fed up we actually devised a plan to get as many people as there were cadillacs to fake that they were TCN escorts and simultaneously get everyone out with their standard (5 mins to closing bwahh) and going to the next cadillac only to find it was closed. If it were only shoe clerks that I was victimized we probably would have done it. The REMFING was so rampant I thought anyday we would have to start having these on hand:

sputnik Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 (edited) What's the URL to that post/forum? I think I want to pop in there and give someone a piece of my mind... https://airlinepilotforums.com/showthread.p...7166&page=5, bottom of page. I look forward to comments. The form attached above is excellent. I got recut there a few weeks back, we older guys on crew were bitchin about the place, the Lt's were wondering why we hated it so much. I finally explained (they were both zoombags) that Al Udied is exactly like the academy, except no mountains to look at. I'm sure I'll get flamed by Boom and the non-grads, but if you didn't go there and you've ever wondered what the academy was like...think 'Died. Reminds me of when one our ADOs was walking back to the dorm in December in his PTs, it was cold as all get out and he committed the sin of putting his hands in his pockets. He told him that was the stupidest reason he'd ever heard. The shoe turned out to be some first sergeant, and he had to get a talking to about it. The sadest thing about it, if nothing else these pencil neck dovchebags could at least pretend a bit of leadership (at however gay level) and say "the standards/AFIs say this, so do it." I could at least then say "while you're a nvmbnuts fvckwad at least you're enforcing an actual rule, however gay it might be" instead they come up with completely fvcking retarded theories of fall hazards and force protection. Tools and cowards. I am printing off your form and carrying it next time in theater. I had an "Adult" pen pocket tab made. Really enjoyed wearing that, thanks for whoever came up with it. In an immeasurably small way, it made up for being treated like a three year old. Which really isn't fair, I treat my three year old with infinitely more respect. Edited June 12, 2008 by sputnik

Guest Yoda Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 What is as frightening as the idiotic uniform enforcement at the Deed; is the fact that these people come home back to home-station bases and carry that mentality with them. It is one thing for an E8-E9, maybe O5-O6 to nit pick and point out infractions and basically be a unifrom nazi, but I don't need a fellow E6 at home base, in the fitness center (IT IS A GYM!) while doing push-ups during sqdn pt to "tuck your shirt in"! Let's all just agree on something right now and bury it: your shirt tucked in and the current combat op's in the MidEast-Asia are NOT related. No matter how they spin it. If I wear my gas mask wrong, my armor wrong.... PLEASE correct me. When I go and take a leak or am doing PT...don't worry about my black socks and untucked shirt. We did all sign up didn't we? yeah, we abide by the rules. C'mon though. Even an occasional teacher in scholl ALLOWED you to chew gum!
Scooter14 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Even an occasional teacher in scholl ALLOWED you to chew gum! The shoe clerks rest their case
bowe96 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Ah the ADULT pencil patch, good to see I'm not the only one who thought of it. Just had a bunch of them made up out at roosters and it is rather amusing how offended some people get about it. It's like most people in the AF are perfectly alright with being treated like a child.

Guest RJEwo Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 And now we have been without Gatorade in the Chow Halls and Grab and Go for about 1 week now.

Stiffler Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Latest Deid update: No More Tab Patches... Shirt walked in here 4 minutes ago and told me to take mine off due to a recent change in leadership. And I assume you politely told the shirt "thanks" and that it is back on your flight suit right? At Manas (again, far gayer than the Died) I had the DO tell me that I should take my patch off, because the wing commander doesnt like them (standard in the AF...enforce the rules and blame someone else while trying to appear cool.) So, I looked at the DO, smiled and said "thanks for the info, if I see him ill be sure to take it off!" He stumbled with a couple of "uhhhs" and then walked out. Nothing more said, patch stays on. Probably not the best story to tell the new guys, but I feel good about it.
Skitzo Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I wish they would do question and answers and commander's calls via anonymous method like a drop box. That way you aren't the only jackass standing and immediately being passed up for promotion when you ask why morale patches aren't allowed. I'd respect it a whole lot more if the commander said "because I'm the commander and I think they look unprofessional, or even a because I said so" than if they just left it up to the uniform nazis.
HerkDerka Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Latest Deid update: No More Tab Patches... I wouldn't that an update. More of a "Standing rule with variable periods of enforcement". HD

boobs Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 This just in from Saleem. Edited to remove names.... Please do not go out the front door of the DFAC, it is an emergency exit only, believe me people are watching! Thank you, Lt Col XXXX Excerpts below: .............................. CCs/Shirts, Please read the comment below. This is probably not only an aircrew issue, unfortunately, we as aircrew are highlighted because of the uniform we wear. However, it means we have to be even more professional because we live in the proverbial "Fishbowl." Please keep talking to your folks about standards and professionalism. ............................... "We are having a serious problem with the Aircrews and there attitudes of doing what ever they want, can you please help?" So we have a serious problem with "aircrew attitudes"? I'll let that generate some responses and see what happens after I go and finish my 16 hr duty day flying over baghdad. We can see what Amn/Col Schmuckattelli's contribution is to ongoing operations from living in the proverbial fishbowl. Boobs
Guest CAVEMAN Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 You guys laugh at the AF but that sh!t is the same everywhere. You think the AF is bad come to the USMC. The uniform police are everywhere to include a lowly E-2 (less than 8 months in the military) who wants to bust your chops because he is base security. These people are recruited and put in the system for a reason; make us ultimately safe, ensure a tactical mindset in upheld at all times. Just let them know you appreciate their effort and move on. Because soon as you leave one a-hole, there is another one around the corner waiting for you. How many do you want to take on in a day? Buddy of mine is down the street at (base x) a few weeks back. He gets back from an 11 hour sortie, throws on a shirt with "VANS" written on it, along withthe Van's logo. Some unidentified dude stops him in the chow hall and tells him the logo is too large IAW Wing policy. Pilot informs him the logo is 2" tall (which ok), and that the word "VANS" is a "trademark", not a "logo", and he should learn the difference. They argue. Unidentified gent says the Chief wrote the new reg. Pilot tells him Chiefs don't write regs, offciers do. Finally, pilot asks this guy who he is, and he is a SMSgt. He runs off, cries to the Chief (who is watching from afar), and within 36 hours, the sq/cc is getting asked about it from the O-6 level. We have GOT to take back control of the USAF from these idiots --- officers and enlisted alike. These stories paint a sad picture of what is going on. Technique: when pulled aside by someone for some silly-ass infraction, get close, look them in the eye, and at the top of your lungs yell, "NOTED!". Very effective, I've found out. [ 16. Guest CAVEMAN Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I still run in my civilian PT gear around Coalition Compound in the evenings because the AF PT gear is attrocious to run/exercise in. Here's what the Deid has taught me about the AF: as a service, much like the country as a whole, we are severely obese. What are one of these senior NCO's going to do...run me down? I'd relish the opportunity to have one run with me. No disrespect to those senior NCO's who do uphold the physical fitness standards...I just haven't seen that 1 in 1000 yet! Ha: The Airforce as a whole has a different mindset on physical fitness. If you would compare it to the USMC, standards are higher and they are ENFORCED. This is not to say we do not have fat assess, the proportion is just smaller. PT is part of your day; twice a day sometimes. With type "A" personalities all around, you cannot fall out of runs and have the balls to say much. You will gradually loose your respect and get kicked out in any case. We put them on mandatory weight control porgrams and if they are not passing, they are kicked out. I have denied a couple kids re-enlistement because they could not pass our PFT. The unit CO is allowed to do that. Pictures are required for promotion and they will be quick to pass you over when they see that you are fat and don't run fast. The USMC can get away with it because we are not as large as the Army and Airforce.
