Why age it in an oaken cask, when you can get it in the can (STS)? Thought 4 Loco was fun? It's eight shots in a can...

I'll bet THIS is the good stuff.

The dram in a can: Scottish whisky the way South Americans like it...

By Mark Howarth

Last updated at 9:12 AM on 17th January 2011

It is a sight that will have whisky connoisseurs spluttering into their drink – a dram in a can.

A Panama-based company believes outdoor drinkers would prefer to crack open a tin rather than lug round a bottle of their favourite tipple.

Now bosses at Scottish Spirits – which retains an office in Glasgow – is testing out the novelty on its Caribbean and South American markets.

Chief executive Manish Panshal said: ‘We are really thrilled with the idea – it’s going to be a part of every lifestyle and occasion.

‘The can is the perfect size to be shared between three people who can mix it with other things like cola.

‘It’s lightweight and portable and entirely recyclable, which is good news. It will be one of the hot picks for any outdoor activities.’

This from Eurekalert.Org, science news release service. Submitted without further comment because I’m just F_ucking speechless. That said, the news release being available in Chinese must have some convoluted meaning.

Yale researchers reveal secrets of duck sex: It's all screwed up[

This release is available in Chinese.

Female ducks have evolved an intriguing way to avoid becoming impregnated by undesirable but aggressive males endowed with large corkscrew-shaped penises: vaginas with clockwise spirals that thwart oppositely spiraled males.

More details of this evolutionary battle of the sexes fought at the level of genitalia are described by Yale researchers in the December 23 issue of the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.

"In species where forced copulation is common, males have evolved longer penises, but females have coevolved convoluted vaginas with dead-end cul-de-sacs and spirals in the opposite direction of the male penis," said Patricia L.R. Brennan, lead author of the paper and postdoctoral researcher in the Yale Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. "This coevolution results from conflict between the sexes over who is going to control fertilization."

The research builds upon a 2007 Yale study that first described the strange morphology of a duck's sexual organs. While most birds have no phalluses, ducks turn out to have relatively large, flexible penises—up to 20 centimeters—tucked inside their bodies. During sex, male ducks extend, or evert, their phalluses inside the female. Brennan and her Yale colleagues used high-speed video to document the erection of the duck penis for the first time and found the whole process takes less than half a second—an act the Yale team described as "explosive."

Such large phalluses are supposed to give males a reproductive advantage when there is much forced mating. However, the Yale team hypothesized that females could make copulation difficult for the males with their complex genitalia. And, they wondered, do the convoluted vaginas of some waterfowl help those females exclude forced copulation?

To test the hypothesis, Brennan and colleagues examined duck penis eversion in a set of glass tubes with different shapes. A straight tube or a tube that spirals in the same counter-clockwise direction as the male penis doesn't slow down the eversion process. But glass tubes that mimic the female vaginal shapes with a clockwise spiral or a sharp bend can completely stop the penis from everting. These results suggest females have evolved anatomical mechanisms to impede forced copulation, and provide new insights into the evolutionary consequences of sexual conflict over reproduction, say the scientists.

The anatomical evolutionary race to control reproduction is one of the more dramatic examples of sexual conflict in nature.

"Although we predict that sexual conflict should be ubiquitous, finding a system where the 'arms race' between the sexes is so dramatic is exceedingly rare. Ducks are providing us with an incredible opportunity to understand the evolutionary consequences of conflict," said Brennan.

MOSCOW – After 233 days in a locked steel capsule, six researchers on a 520-day mock flight to Mars are all feeling strong and ready to "land" on the Red Planet, the mission director said Friday.

The all-male crew of three Russians, a Chinese, a Frenchman and an Italian-Colombian has been inside windowless capsules at a Moscow research center since June.

Las Vegas tourist sues for refund after sex act led to ‘tragic’ arrest threat

A tourist says he was traumatized when Las Vegas police threatened to arrest him after he complained about an act of prostitution in his hotel room.

Hubert Blackman of New York City filed a lawsuit this month against a Las Vegas company he identified as Las Vegas Exclusive Personals. The lawsuit says the business operates on Paradise Road.

Blackman, a college student, said in an interview Thursday that he was on vacation and staying at the Stratosphere on Dec. 17 when he called Las Vegas Exclusive Personals to arrange for a stripper to come to his room and dance for him.

Blackman said the woman, who appeared to be in her mid 20s, stripped and performed a lap dance for $155 and a sex act for another $120.

He said that the next morning, he called Las Vegas Exclusive Personals to demand his money back, saying he was dissatisfied because the entertainer didn't stay for the promised one hour and left after a half hour.

Blackman said he also told the company he was incapable of making an informed agreement with the stripper because he was drunk at the time.

Dissatisfied when Las Vegas Exclusive Personals didn't arrange for a refund, Blackman said he contacted Metro Police and was told he faced arrest for such conduct and was advised to contact the Better Business Bureau.

Instead, after returning home he filed suit in federal court in New York, charging "An escort did an illegal sexual act on me during her paid service to me'' and "I almost had gotten arrested."

Blackman said he now needs medical treatment for a mental condition related to the incident.

In the suit, which he filed without an attorney, Blackman said: "I would like the court to close the business. I also would like to get my $275 payment back and a $1.8 million verdict for the tragic event that happened."

In the interview Thursday, Blackman said it was the dancer who solicited the sex act -- but he acknowledged he was aware at the time that prostitution was illegal in Las Vegas.

The number listed in Blackman's lawsuit is used by Hillsboro Enterprises, which says it's been licensed for 17 years and provides adult dancers on a subcontractor outcall basis.

Officials at Hillsboro said Thursday they were unaware of the lawsuit or of Blackman's claims, but denied the company is involved in prostitution. They said if anyone calls looking to hire a dancer and indicates they're looking for sex, they're told prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas and all of Clark County.

Wet Bandits strike

A North Stafford couple's home was ruined Wednesday by what police have labeled a "senseless' act of vandalism.

Stafford sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy said the incident occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Someone broke into a home on Summerlake Court in the Park Ridge subdivision and clogged an upstairs shower drain while leaving the water running.

One of the homeowners was returning home from work about 6:30 p.m. when she noticed a basement door open and a light on. Knowing that no one was supposed to be home, the woman called the Stafford Sheriff's Office instead of going inside, Kennedy said.

Deputy Christina Torres went into the home through the basement door, which had been forced open, and found a large amount of water on the floor and water dripping from the ceiling, walls and light fixtures.

Torres eventually went to the shower in the master bedroom, where she found that someone had clogged the drain with items from the house and left the water running. Someone had also stolen a significant amount of jewelry, including rings, bracelets and necklaces, from the master bedroom.

Kennedy said there was also an unsuccessful attempt to clog a drain in a basement sink, where the water was also left running.

A building inspector was called to the house and determined that the house was uninhabitable, Kennedy said. Kennedy said he did not have damage figures, but said any repairs would be extensive.

"It's just ridiculous that someone would do this to somebody's home," Kennedy said. "It is completely senseless."

The real question is what will the homeowner do next... will they set out christmas ornaments, swing paint cans from stair ways and put heat through all the doorknobs, then a few years later disappear from the public eye for a long time only to turn up screwing Mila Kunis many years down the road?

Its really the only sensible thing to do.

A serious WTF!?!

Super Bowl XLV to have No Cheerleaders

The Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are two of just six teams in the NFL who don't have professional cheering squads. Barring a last-minute squad organization by either franchise it looks like there won't be any cheerleaders on the sidelines for cameramen to pan across before commercial breaks during Super Bowl XLV.

YGBSM! :bash:
