HU&W Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Got me googling too. Here's some more info about CSCOPE's usage of the Boston Tea Party as a teaching device in differing perspectives.
Boomer6 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) Lot of bullshit in that article, which is not surprising given the source. Agreed on the source. How does a teacher get from here: (B) describe major world religions, including animism, Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism, and their spatial distribution; to here: LeBlanc said the students were told that they could no longer use the terms suicide bomber or terrorist. Instead, they were instructed to use the words “freedom fighters.” BS article or not I have a hard time seeing them dressing students up as wives of David Koresh and telling them not to call what he did "rape" / "polygamy" Edited February 27, 2013 by Boomer6

Prozac Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Parents of transgender first-grader file discrimination complaint https://www.cnn.com/2...hool/index.html Saw this this morning and it pissed me off to no end. Aside from the fact that it's highly debatable whether or not a 6 year old should be having gender identification issues, I just want to puke when I see the parents parading the poor child around on a TV news show and discuss issues right in front of him/her that the kid cannot possibly comprehend. Then the anchor insensitively asked if the child missed his/her friends at school, basically pouring salt in the wound. I feel genuinely bad for the poor kid. The parents should be ashamed.
HuggyU2 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 No, WE should feel ashamed. Ashamed that our country has come to this,... and we have allowed it to happen. Sickening. 2
Spoo Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 No, WE should feel ashamed. Ashamed that our country has come to this,... and we have allowed it to happen. Sickening. Your lack of tolerance is troubling.Talk about weird. I can't help envisioning a Rodman puppet high fiving an Arec Bawdwin puppet... Dennis Rodman calls North Korean leader "an awesome kid" BEIJING (Reuters) - Former NBA basketball star Dennis Rodman emerged from four days in North Korea on Friday, calling the leader of the reclusive country "an awesome kid". Rodman, known for his tattoos, body piercings and flamboyance, was in North Korea to film a sports documentary, and watched a basketball game alongside the country's leader, Kim Jong-un. Kim "is like his grandfather and his father, who are great leaders, he is an awesome kid, very honest and loves his wife so much", Rodman told the Chinese government news agency Xinhua before leaving the North Korean capital, Pyongyang, on Friday. Kim, 30, is the grandson of Kim Il-sung, who founded North Korea, and the son of Kim Jong-il. Both ruled the country with an iron fist. Kim has maintained his father's drive to secure nuclear arms for his impoverished country, with North Korea last month conducting its third nuclear test, drawing the condemnation of world powers and the United Nations. At Thursday's basketball game, Rodman and Kim laughed and conversed in English, and later had an "amicable" dinner, Xinhua quoted the former Chicago Bulls player as saying. Kim attended secondary school in Switzerland, but his language abilities remain a mystery. North Korea routinely denounces U.S. "hostility" and no peace treaty was signed after a truce ended the 1950-53 Korean War. But Xinhua said Kim told Rodman over dinner that he hoped further sports exchanges would promote "mutual understanding between peoples of the two countries". Asked how his visit might help, Rodman told the agency: "About the relationship, no one man can do anything. His country and his people love him. I love him, he is an awesome guy." Before meeting Kim, Rodman appeared to have mixed up the two Koreas, suggesting he might meet South Korean rapper Psy during his trip to the North. Rodman came to North Korea to shoot footage for a show to air on the U.S. television network HBO, a producer travelling with the group said. Arriving at Beijing airport, Rodman brushed past reporters without speaking. (Reporting by Terril Yue Jones; Editing by Ron Popeski) https://music.yahoo.c...49894--nba.html

morenoj135 Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 It's hard to take Rodman serious as a basketball player and it's really quite the stretch to look him in the face (and not crack up) and take him seriously as a diplomat. He must really be hurting for publicity and cash.
