Hueypilot Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Those uniforms look similar to the first iteration of the ABU. Back to the flag...so the US military (particularly the Navy and Marines) have a long history of flying the Gadsden Flag and Navy Jack, for around 250 years. Now because some unofficial political movement unofficially used that flag at rallies for, oh, the past 4-5 years, any future use of the flag now constitutes a political agenda? FWIW I saw Navy personnel wearing both flag patches on their Multi-cams in theater...uh oh! Better go tell the they are promoting a political party!! 1

WAG Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) I'll just leave this right here. https://www.wired.com...my-little-pony/ “Honestly, the patch is the last thing on the student pilots’ minds,” Barger said. “They are focused on the rigors of their fast-paced and world-class pilot training … Our allied partners send their student pilots here to train because the United States Air Force is known for its air superiority around the globe, and now perhaps, in the land of Equestria. Perhaps the Wonderbolts will start sporting a U.S. Air Force patch of their own.” ... and this is why we are supposed to contact PA before talking to the media? Did PA get approval from PA for this? pawnman Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 We spent 11 pages on it a while back: https://www.flyingsqu...lass-patchwtfo/ Ah. I missed it and happened across the story on Wired. My bad. It seems like this was leadership's fault as much as the students. They threw it in there as the obvious bad option you include so the boss can satisfy his need to reject something. Instead, leadership approved it.
afthunderchief16 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 These poor bastards don't know what they are in for. CBTs have finally made it in to the civilian education sector! I wonder what took them so long to figure out their effectiveness? Starting this fall, all incoming students will be expected to complete an online education program about alcohol abuse. https://news.yahoo.com/university-iowa-claims-top-party-school-title-180114580.html
Hueypilot Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm sure the CBT will curb drinking at colleges. It's worked so well at stopping sexual assaults in the military. 1
Spur38 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 ABC newsman who switched genders wants to switch back Published August 06, 2013 / New York PostHe thought he was a woman trapped in a man’s body — but it turns out he’s “just another boring straight guy.” ABC News editor Don Ennis strolled into the newsroom in May wearing a little black dress and an auburn wig and announced he was transgender and splitting from his wife. He wanted to be called Dawn. But now he says he suffered from a two-day bout of amnesia that has made him realize he wants to live his life again as Don. “I accused my wife of playing some kind of cruel joke, dressing me up in a wig and bra and making fake ID’s with the name ‘Dawn’ on it. Seriously,” Ennis wrote in an e-mail to friends and colleagues Friday, explaining his shock after he woke up from what he called a “transient global amnesia” last month. “It became obvious this was not the case once I took off the bra — and discovered two reasons I was wearing one,” he said, referring to his hormone-induced breasts. “I thought it was 1999 . . . and I was sure as hell that I was a man,” Ennis said in the e-mail titled “Not Reportable, Very Confirmed.” “Fortunately, my memories of the last 14 years have since returned. But what did not return was my identity as Dawn,” said Ennis, who had been wearing lipstick, skirts and heels. “I am writing to let you know I’m changing my name . . . to Don Ennis. That will be my name again, now and forever. And it appears I’m not transgender after all. “I have retained the much different mind-set I had in 1999: I am now totally, completely, unabashedly male in my mind, despite my physical attributes,” he said. “I’m asking all of you who accepted me as a transgender to now understand: I was misdiagnosed. “I am already using the men’s room and dressing accordingly,” he noted.

M2 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Google image search the following phrase: tea party flags Tell me what 50-75% of the images come up as as you scroll down. Or better yet, go online shopping for Tea Party flags. https://www.gettysbur...m/TEA-Party.php https://www.sevenbros...hp?cPath=95_313 https://www.flagsimpo...tea-party-flags I know it's wiki- but still. https://en.wikipedia....Movement_symbol Weak and unconvincing argument. Just because the Tea Party adopted the Gadsden Flag doesn't negate its long and proud history and use in this country. And if you look closely, the one in question is not even the same as the traditional flag being used by the Tea Party. If you can prohibit the use of a national symbol so easily, then I guess you are going to do the same for the bald eagle because the NRA uses it in its logo... And to the elected douchebags of New Rochelle from the proud citizens of Texas..."come and take it!" 1
Fuzz Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 (edited) Seems like there may be more to this story, but then again it is New Jersey. https://www.nbc40.net...-of-service-dog Edited August 10, 2013 by Fuzz

Did you say it's the buddhist symbol for eternity that's been in use for 8000 years or did you think it represents the nazi party for the last 70 years? C'mon Vertigo, even you have to admit that connecting that particular flag to the Tea Party is a huge stretch... Just because the Tea Party adopted the Gadsden Flag doesn't negate its long and proud history and use in this country. So is it a stretch or do you now agree that a political party has now adopted it as their symbol? You just contradicted yourself there. Edited August 12, 2013 by Vertigo

Did you say it's the buddhist symbol for eternity that's been in use for 8000 years or did you think it represents the nazi party for the last 70 years? Actually, you're wrong. The Nazi swastika and the Buddhist swastika are inverted. I see the point you're making, but make it correctly, or you look like my 10 year old who knows a tiny bit of everything, so he thinks he knows it all. Then I tell him nobody likes a know-it-all... Spur38 Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Also from a reliable (?) internet source: "The swastika was employed by various American Indian tribes, notably the Navajo, for whom it was a sort of good luck sign".

slackline Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Stupid buddhists need you to come over there and show them their own symbol. It's drawn both ways in buddhism. Got me. I'd never seen it in Japan or Korea drawn that way, but that obviously doesnt mean it wasn't. One last point, pretty much the only people that don't know the swastika did not originate with the Nazi party, or does not have a much deeper meaning than the twisted meaning the Nazi's applied to it are ignorant. So, yeah, same deal with "Don't tread on me". We have some ignorant people ignoring, or too ignorant for history that think it only applies to Tea Baggers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD 3
ThreeHoler Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 https://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-57597971-71/truck-driver-has-gps-jammer-accidentally-jams-newark-airport/ https://www.honeywellsmartpath.com/ However, Bojczak tended to drive by Newark airport in New Jersey. The enterprising souls there were trying out a new system called Smartpath. This, according to its maker Honeywell, lets airports "increase airport capacity, decrease air traffic noise, and reduce weather-related delays." Sadly, though, it can be jammed by passing trucks that happen to enjoy a GPS jammer. As the New Jersey Star-Ledger reported, the FCC explained: "The signals emanating from the vehicle were blocking the reception of GPS signals used by the air traffic control system." Oops.
