brabus Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 The guy's obviously an idiot and doesn't know what he's talking about...hopefully Congress won't listen to him! I wonder how many we'll get...if any.
Seriously Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 If there is ANYONE who knows what they're talking about on this subject, its Pierre Sprey.
JeepGuyC17 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 If there is ANYONE who knows what they're talking about on this subject, its Pierre Sprey. "2". Go read the book, "Boyd"
brabus Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Actually I think the article does a pretty good job of selling the plane. Did you read the same article I did? I was being 100% sarcastic. Hard on the internet I guess.
Guest Hueypilot812 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 "One day you will come to a fork in the road. And you're going to have to make a decision about what direction you want to go." [boyd] raised his hand and pointed. "If you go that way you can be somebody. You will have to make compromises and you will have to turn your back on your friends. But you will be a member of the club and you will get promoted and you will get good assignments." Then Boyd raised the other hand and pointed another direction. "Or you can go that way and you can do something - something for your country and for your Air Force and for yourself. If you decide to do something, you may not get promoted and you may not get the good assignments and you certainly will not be a favorite of your superiors. But you won't have to compromise yourself. You will be true to your friends and to yourself. And your work might make a difference." He paused and stared. "To be somebody or to do something. In life there is often a roll call. That's when you will have to make a decision. To be or to do? Which way will you go?"
Guest rapier01 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 I can't take anything Sprey says seriously after some of the stuff he said about the Raptor.
busdriver Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Ironically enough, I think Sprey has fallen victim to the same thing that he advocated against previously. He's unable to see outside of his personal frame of reference.

HuggyU2 Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I've heard F-22 test pilots tell me they are disappointed at a number of the design features of the F-35. I am curious how many of the problems are directly attributed to the fact that there are compromises that must be made so that it will accomodate all the Services.
