Steve Davies Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I don't know if anyone else has seen these, but they are incredible. They were taken mostly in 1942, before the days of auto focus and built in light meters, by a very talented photog . The quality of the Kodachrome transparencies is so good that it's hard to believe these images are almost 70 years old. Here's the Gallery And here's a couple of tasters:
brickhistory Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 50 mission 'crush hats' are cool. Thanks for posting these.
M2 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Damn, those are impressive pics! I am amazed at how clear and sharp they are, considering they were taken 65 years ago! Thanks, Steve! Cheers! M2
shiznitobam_allstars Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Great pictures. I've always preferred film to digital.
Guest JollyFlight21 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Those are a lot of great shots. Ahh, film vs digital. Digital is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper.
slo_goin Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Like looking through a window into the past. I wonder if we as a country would ever be able to come together and gear up like that again?
Guest IncompletePete Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 They're stunning images - I keep meaning to buy an old school camera like that to use for modern sports photography, it could produce some pretty cool and different results!
silverwolf0911 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Imagine these pictures from that long ago https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/empire/
Hammer Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Wow, those are really amazing. Good find! It's always cool to see pics of the hometown from back in the day (which was a Wednesday).
