Military to Pledge Oath To Obama, Not Constitution

Conservative News and Reporting

"News for the Rest of Us"

Michele Chang

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is extremely frustrated with orders that the White House is contemplating. According to sources at the Pentagon, including all branches of the armed forces, the Obama Administration may break with a centuries-old tradition.

A spokesman for General James Cartwright, the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, states that the Obama Administration wants to have soldiers and officers pledge a loyalty oath directly to the office of the President, and no longer to the Constitution.

"The oath to the Constitution is as old as the document itself." the spokesman said, "At no time in American history, not even in the Civil War, did the oath change or the subject of the oath differ. It has always been to the Constitution."

The back-and-forth between the White House and the Defense Department was expected as President George W. Bush left office. President Obama has already signed orders to close Guantanamo and to pull combat troops from Iraq. But, this, say many at the Defense Department, goes to far.

"Technically, we can't talk about it before it becomes official policy." the spokesman continued. "However, the Defense Department, including the Secretary, will not take this laying down. Expect a fight from the bureaucracy and the brass."

Sources at the White House had a different point of view. In a circular distributed by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, the rationale for the change was made more clear.

"The President feels that the military has been too indoctrinated by the old harbingers of hate: nationalism, racism, and classism. By removing an oath to the American society, the soldiers are less likely to commit atrocities like those at Abu Ghraib."

"We expect a lot of flak over this," ! the clas sified memo continues. "But those that would be most against it are those looking either for attention or control."

The time frame for the changes are unknown. However, it is more likely that the changes will be made around the July 4th holiday, in order to dampen any potential backlash. The difference in the oath will actually only be slight. The main differences will be the new phrasing. It is expected that the oath to the Constitution will be entirely phased out within two years.

Oooooooooooo boy...So there is going to be a private police force or whatever Obama wants to call it. And now this? This goes a little too far in my book.

It always amazes me how gullible some people can be... anyone who thought this was some factual reporting seriously needs to get a f#cking clue... and please get out of the military. I certainly don't want to be serving side by side with anyone dumb enough to get sucked into crap like this.

Didn't even have to get to the snopes post.

Such obvious BS as to be beneath us.

Even He wouldn't do this nor would either the Supreme Court let him or the Congress. They would impeach him.

I hope and believe the military would refuse such a thing were it ever to be promulgated by any White House resident.

While I hope this is total bullsh*t, here’s something to think about.

Within the last two months or so there was a History Channel program on about several different groups who plotted to remove/overthrow/coup de tae (sp) Adolf Hitler from office (centering on the Project Valkrie guys). Anyhow, it mentioned early on in the show how Hitler made the German military (and lots of other folks for that matter) pledge an oath directly to him, not the state. There are others in this forum much smarter on history than me that can comment on that. But this is something to make you go Mmmmmm.

INFO NOTE: Please understand I am in no way comparing Hitler to the current president. Additionally, remember 99.9% of this stuff has no basis in fact and since any nutball can put anything on line with no need for credibility there is no way to know what’s baloney and what’s a least semi true.

I would hope that Fox News or other mainstream source would shed some light on this one way or the other.

The connection with Hitler's army swearing his allegiance was the first thing that popped into my mind when I read that. I almost went through the roof, too, till I realized it was a fake.

Oh, well good. The other forum I am on is generally pretty credible about posting articles, so I just took it at face value. Sorry for posting BS!

Spin this a little.

How many of you serving with kids, mortgages, bills, would take such an oath?

The German officer corps was pretty professional, it does make you wonder...

So there is going to be a private police force or whatever Obama wants to call it.

Saw a video clip on U-Tube this morning with him "promoting" it at a campagin stop in July 08, called it a "Civilian Security Force..." WTF is that supposed to do? Anyone have any info on this one?

OBTW, the whole crowd was clapping, cheering, etc... Shades of Nuremberg perhaps?

Holy snot, probably don't want to go there again. Already been discussed and the obama apologists swear that it has to do with beefing up the state department.

Some would, most wouldn't. There would have to be a stop-loss type program enacted prior to a whisper of this type of thing escaping into the press, and frankly, I think we would see a Coup d'Etat within weeks of announcement.

I agree except for the coup.

I think there would be a polite mutiny ("Sir, thank you for your interest in national defence, but....") until he was impeached and removed from office by the Congress.

With all do respect, I think you're giving Congress too much credit here. After all, they're still walking around with their dicks in their hands trying to make up their minds about this friggin' Stimulus package. I think by them approving the Department of Homeland Defense was a big mistake. Reference issues such as TSA, Hurricane Katrina, yadda yadda yadda. As what the bumper stickers say, "Congress is the opposite of Progress."

In regards to the previous posts, now that our (New York) former Senator is the Secretary of State, I see the State Department turning into the KGB, the German S.S., or insert other Gestapo organization.

By the way, I'm drunk posting here. It's time for another beer!:beer::beer:
