MD Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 https://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/17/oba...oops/index.html President Obama increasing the number of troops in Afghanistan by 17,000. Wonder where Code Pink is now? No protests? Oh the irony...
WeMeantWell Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 He can do no wrong. Just wait, it will wear off....
Guest NotAPilot Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I'll bet KBR gets the no-bid contract to do the toilets, chow halls, etc........
busdriver Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hopefully, the replacement for KBR at Kandahar sucked from what I heard. KBR chow when I was at Kandahar in 06 was pretty damn good.

The new chow hall at Bagram is great. They have a 24 hour thing going on now. If you don't PT often, you'll gain a metric ton!
HerkDerka Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 President Obama increasing the number of troops in Afghanistan by 17,000. Alright! Change!..........wait, what? HD

When did they start 24hr operations? It must have been very recent. Probably because there isn't enough capacity and it was impossible to get a seat during peak hours. It's great when you're only awake for 2 meals a day (and are frequently flying during at least one of them) and you can't sit down for either of them.
Vertigo Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 "Our troops have fought valiantly there, but Iraq has deprived them of the support they need — and deserve. As a result, parts of Afghanistan are falling into the hands of the Taliban, and a mix of terrorism, drugs and corruption threatens to overwhelm the country. As president, I would deploy at least two additional brigades to Afghanistan to re-enforce our counterterrorism operations and support NATO's efforts against the Taliban." -Barack Obama Aug 1, 2007 His stance on Afghanistan (not to be confused with Iraq) has always been to put more troops on the ground. Are your memories that bad? To much bong resin in the cranium?

WeMeantWell Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Parts of the country are falling into the hands of bad guys and terrorism/corruption threatens to overwhelm parts of the country. That's a great reason to add troops to the fight... or take them out of one, apparently. Agreed. I hope he coordinated these actions with France, Britain, Australia, Ugubuta, etc... otherwise that would be, gasp*, unilateral!
flyusaf83 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 He can do no wrong. Just wait, it will wear off.... Mark my words - If Obama's favorability ratings ever get below 40%, the "racist" cry will be so loud. The media, academia, "intellectuals", etc. will bitch and moan that since the country isn't embracing the Messiah's socialist policies, we are bunch of yokel redneck inbreedin' racists.
FlyinGrunt Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 and, just like before, we rednecks won't give a fvck what those idiots think!

Too late, the racism card has already been thrown out there: Obama President's Day Controversy Apparently, the commissary at Peterson had a "President's Day" sign up, and lo and behold, the President that was featured was our current sitting president, not Washington, Lincoln or any of those other mediocre guys. Some customers complained that the sign should reflect the presidents that the holiday was created for, not the currently worshipped head of state. The sign was removed, and then came the cries of racism. Edited February 19, 2009 by Hueypilot812
Duck Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) Obama President's Day Controversy "He said they're not going to have no black man on the window where he shops," the cashier said. Now is this a direct quote of what the Retiree said or the cashier. I think its funny how 90% of the time the first person to pull out the race card is usually the most racist person in the room. This $hit just makes me want to throw up. Grow the fvck up, make your own sign and stick it in your yard. Oh what? You don't have a yard? Oh because you are still waiting for the Messiah to buy you a house? Well then tape it to your cardboard box. Edited February 19, 2009 by leadeagle05
Guest Hueypilot812 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 That was the cashier attempting to quote a customer. Whether or not a customer even said that is up to debate. Perhaps the customer said something different, which was then taken out of context. Who knows, really. All I know is someone felt that the only president worth displaying on a "President's Day" sign was Barack Obama. None of the other historically significant presidents were displayed on the sign. I understand Obama is the President, but he just entered office a month ago and hasn't hardly done anything yet. But it seems that anyone who wishes to point that fact out is deemed a racist since they don't want to march in step with the "Obama is the greatest" crowd.

Vertigo Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 The bad thing is the holiday is OFFICIALLY George Washington's birthday. President's Day is a term used by some state governments and the more common term but according to the federal government it is officially known as George Washington's Birthday. The NAACP can b1tch and moan all they want... this holiday isn't about the current president or any other president besides our first. A draft of the Uniform Holidays Bill of 1968 would have renamed the holiday to Presidents' Day to honor both Washington and Lincoln, but this proposal failed in committee and the bill as voted on and signed into law on June 28, 1968 kept the name Washington's Birthday.

Vertigo Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Put down the Obama kool aid and read flyingwolf's post. HD Not drinking the kool aid, just pointing out the facts. I read it and I agree, especially since one of Code Pinks founders was a campaign bundler for Obama. Unfortunately their (Code Pink's) website doesn't mention anything about Afghanistan only Iraq. I would of laughed my ass off had this nutjob group given money to Obama while pushing to pull out of Afghanistan.
