skibum Posted June 28, 2021 Posted June 28, 2021 Wait - what? They got a Sonic, Subway AND Pizza Hut now? Must be awesome!
brickhistory Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 The Professor and the Madman on Netflix True-ish story of the start of the Oxford English Dictionary. Mel Gibson goes back to his Scottish accent as the guy chosen to do the dictionary. All noble, dedicated, family man. Sean Penn (whom I detest, but did a good job here) as a convicted but insane and in an asylum Civil War doctor who made major contributions to the project. Premise is pretty good and the acting is really good. Snobby Oxford Brits trying to sabotage Gibson's efforts, Victorian era mental patient treatment, and a lisping Winston Churchill. Gibson dusts off the two-handed broadsword and slays with abandon...(ok, made that part up) YMMV.
panchbarnes Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 The long awaited Masters of the Air is finally in production now. Sucks it will be on Apple TV+ and not HBO. Which means you won't be able to buy the DVD or digital rights, as the only way to watch it is via Apple TV+ subscription. See Tom Hanks Greyhound film. ☹️ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masters_of_the_Air 1 1 1
Lord Ratner Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Just watched "Nobody" and it was awesome. It's a John Wick knock off but I think I liked it more. A great addition to the "realistic" action hero genre.
AirGuardianC141747 Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 (edited) Cool, was wondering what that one was like. I know someone mentioned it wasn’t that great, but I’m more willing to drop 300 cents on it just for some mindless action. Us airline guys get cheap sometimes, just didn’t want to pay $20 on Direct a couple of months ago. Thanks LR! One of my airline buds said The Tomorrow War was very good. I hope it is. Tomorrow war wasn't bad, kind of a different spin on bad unstoppable creature kind of movies, at the end I wasn't pissed at wasting 2hrs

Just like Quiet Place II… First Quiet Place was very quiet, too quiet too slow when I needed a mindless sockem rockem movie to get my mind off the middle seat passenger bleeding into my virus free zone. *I keep movies like Ford vs Ferrari or The Courier(haven’t seen it yet/in my stash) for our Home Screen and mindless entertainment to kill time. brickhistory Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Red Notice. Meh... Dwayne "Rock" Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gidot as international art thieves. Exotic locales. Dance-like fight scenes. Not much story. They did this for the paycheck. Don't regret seeing it, but wouldn't recommend it or watch again.
Blue Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 Don't Look Up is the latest Adam McKay flick (Anchorman, The Big Short, Vice). Had a limited run in theaters, and now being pushed hard on Netflix. Clocked in at 2:18, which was way too long. Could have been trimmed to 90-100 minutes and been a better movie. It was OK, something entertaining to watch while in a post Xmas-feast coma, but that's about it. It's being billed as this kind of sharp, biting satire; poking fun at modern politics, social media, etc. But they take every point they're trying to make, and just beat you over the head with it. It gets tiresome quick.
StoleIt Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 Spiderman No Way Home: Really good. Would suggest seeing in theaters. Matrix Resurrections: They should have left the series dead and not brought it back. Entertaining...maybe. Overall meh. Seemed like a cross of Free Guy (sans humor)/Ready Player 1 with John Wick, but worse. Their quest to bring back characters confused me also. How did Morpheus end up in it? I don't get that since everyone else was either a human or a program. And, to not spoil it, the main bad guy didn't seem very much like a computer program. Very human/humorous dialogue for an "analyst."

DirkDiggler Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Mosul on Netflix is worth watching if you have some spare time and are looking for a war movie. Pretty good depiction of brutal urban combat against ISIS. Plot was a little thin but was still overall a well done movie. 2

This ended up being left wing propaganda for a painstaking 2:18. It wasn’t even entertaining. Skip it. You will thank me.Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app 3

Sent from my SM-F926U1 using Baseops Network mobile app I’ve been a big fan of the Gemstones since it was first released, but the first 2 episodes of season 2 were just ok. Fortunately episode 3 was more in line with the type of humor in season 1. Edited January 19, 2022 by HeloDude

It took all the fun and ask the action out of James Bond in their attempt to humanize him. Yet unlike Casino Royale, the action was not at all realistic. And way too long. Daniel Craig is a really good actor, but the story was a dud. Red Notice was pretty good. Basically the criminal version of National Treasure. I really don't like Gal Gadot I'm anything. Her accent is terrible and her acting is wooden and forced. But Ryan Reynolds and The Rock are great. Edited January 23, 2022 by Lord Ratner 1
