C17Driver Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Yokota is pretty calm, you might fly 5 hours a month and you will have to fight for a 2 month deployment , which may happen once while you are here. You are probably gone a few days every few months. Just FYI incase you were pondering base choices for 130s. So dudes are getting 60 hours per year at Yokota (except for those that get the deployment)?
Champ Kind Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Things have really, really, really slowed down at Yokota from when I was there less than 18 months ago then.
Kelvin Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 They're working hard to fix this, but yes, we've had a flood of new copilots and AC's in the last year. One local flight a month has been about average for me. And TDY's have become hard to come by. But that's what happens when your pilot manning is at 150%...
thoma015 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 So are there any updates to ops tempo? If its the same, do any of you see it changing...i.e. slowing down/picking up any time soon?
brabus Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 All over the board depending on job, airframe, location. Some are home a decent amount, others are gone all the damn time.
dmginc Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Quick thread revival. Any update on the -17's? Better/worse these days? Any changes to the tempo at TCM and CHS (if at all)? Any word on 135's and KC-10's these days?
CharlieHotel47 Posted June 19, 2019 Posted June 19, 2019 Also interested in word on 135's... asking for a friend.

Any word on 135's and KC-10's these days? For -17s: Slightly less but still busy. Somewhat fewer days away from home than in the previous decade. Still last minute, emergency scheduling which makes it hard to plan life. Many folks find out on a Wednesday that they leave on Saturday for a three-week stage. I hear life is a little more relaxed in PACAF. No SA on our tanker brethren. 1
