Daredevileng1 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 As the title says. As a MXS grunt having never been to SERE what is generally in the bag in the AOR? Specifically is there a sleeping bag out there that has a consensus? Cheers, DD
abmwaldo Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Don't know about a consensus but I was issued this (Softie3 Merlin by SnugPak) and it stuffs down well and keeps you fairly warm. It's a single season (maybe two season as it's only good down to 32 degrees but unless you're going to be at extremely high elevations you should be good). I use a similar bag to this (REI Aura) for camping around Alaska in three seasons; this bag is rated to 25 degrees and the fill is Primaloft which doesn't insulate as well as goose down but isn't as expensive/deals with moisture better. Use a Thermarest type pad under either of them for extra insulation if required.
