It's a shame, but the man did leave a helluva legacy and will be making people laugh for generations...

And before acting, he had enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 17 and was trained as an aerial gunner, but was too young by the end of WWII to have deployed overseas.

There are numerous stories about him floating around the airline community. He would stick his head in the cockpit and say something like "Good luck men, we're all counting on you" or "Don't eat the fish."
