You guys see this?  Welsh is getting the 2015 Great American Patriot Award. Previous awardees include Gen Schwartz...but also a Marine general and a MoH recipient. I have never heard of this award so I have no idea if it is something big or another award for participating. Not to take away from his 30+ years of service, but it seems a bit ridiculous, given all the bad/sub-stellar press lately (we are short people across the board right after massive cuts, "you are always on parade, even your private phone conversations", the F-35 debacle, et al) but maybe my view is a bit skewed from reading JQP. Or maybe this is like that order of the sword or whatever the Chiefs give the CSAF - they did it once, so now they do it every time?

From the article..."However, Carlisle would be 59 by the time Welsh retires, older than normal to take on a chief of staff job. He also does not represent diversity, an issue sources agree is being weighed by both James and the administration."

This seems like blatant discrimination to me.

Not if the rhetoric has morphed diversity to be a distorted term.

It isn't going away for a while.  It's sick that we are choosing people because of the color of their skin or gender, I think MLK said the opposite.

Gen Carlisle will be the next CSAF, and Gen Robinson will be the next NORTHCOM Commander. Carlisle will take the reins at the end of June.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

He stares are you and your uniform to sum up if you look like shit/out of regs before even talking to you. Of course he's been doing that since he was an O-6.

He's just looking for the important things.

His philosophy is 7 teeth showing on a flight suit. Mind blowing, yet par for the course in AMC.

Seven total or seven on each side?

Who has time to count that shit, seriously!?!

Is this the "WTF?" thread? HS.

reference the alpha flight structure idea as evidence

I must just be tired, but what is this? It's been awhile since my AMC days, but I have no frame of reference here.

Being in the guard maybe this is foreign but what is the seven teeth thing?

Zipper teeth. As in, he enjoys only seeing few of them unzipped.

Please god tell me that he likes to see flight suits "zipped most of the way up" and hasn't really made a statement regarding the exact number of teeth that he wants showing.  If this is true, I'm afraid the USAF is officially doomed. The ship is sinking around them and this is what senior leadership concerns itself with.  The level of disconnect with the real world is nothing short of astonishing with some of these people.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who said he saw something on the internet that he's making his staff stand at attention and recite the airman's Creed at the beginning and end of every day. And they are making him a five star general, and he's simultaneously going to be the wing and operations group commander at every base, all at once. Oh, and there must be seven teeth showing on every flight suit, especially on blues Thursdays which he's bring back.

Un ing real. The air force is doomed.

Not sure if you are trying to say that McDew isn't that bad or saying that his reputation is unfounded or just trying to be funny, but let me educate everyone here who hasn't run across this guy. If it sounds ridiculous and almost unbelievable, it probably is true.

Lesson of the day: when your people are constantly exercising or deployed as well as overworked due to undermanning...don't be a duche about something inconsequential.

But if I can't expect you to follow the pointless inane BS that doesn't actually have a written reg or policy letter to reference, how can I expect you to read my mind on all the actual mission decisions and do things that aren't written as a requirement...
