Insubordinate & Churlish Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 KDEN has A LOT of runways. They have runways that run North/South, and runways that run East/West. If the winds were out of the west, why didn't he request a Westward runway? It is up to the PIC to "safely" operate the aircraft too. Perhaps it was the the corporate culture of "the guy ahead of me got in without requesting a different runway, so can I." It's not an excuse, but that may be his reason.
Buddy Spike Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Dude, GMAFB. It was a gust. That doesn't mean the winds were being called out of limits when they were cleared for takeoff. Ok, so what were the steady state winds and what was the forecast gust? I'll bet it wasn't a popup 37 knot gust with calm winds prevailing.
Danny Noonin Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Get over it dude. Read the report yourself if you want. You clearly know what you're talking about so I'll give up.
M2 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 KIO, guys, if you want to discuss crosswind procedures or airline hiring policies, start another thread. This one was is to recognize Lowe's heroic actions, and the ongoing debate on the circumstances that led up to the incident are distracting from the recognition he deserves! Keep on topic, please. Thanks! M2
LJ Driver Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Fellas, nice work taking a great thread about a dude that did a tough and challenging thing and derailing it into a petty airline training argument about something no one gives a shit about. How about you STFU. Rich, great job.
Guest Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 KIO Once a "KNOCK-IT-OFF" is called, all participating aircraft will: - Acknowledge with call sign. - Cease tactical maneuvering and the scenario. - Deconflict flight paths and climb/descend to a safe altitude, blocks, or as briefed. - Address any problems/issues. Obtain verbal clearance from the flight lead/mission commander/exercise director/representative before resuming maneuvers. Fellas, nice work taking a great thread about a dude that did a tough and challenging thing and derailing it into a petty airline training argument about something no one gives a shit about. How about you STFU. Nice SA.
