Guest AFsock Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 (edited) Violence intensifies after the shooting of 40+ protestors, Yemeni Generals join revolutionary forces (along with deploying their soldiers/tanks in the capital), President Ali Abdullah Saleh fires his cabinet before they can resign. Looks like our Al Qaeda fighting ally in Yemen is on his way out - https://theweek.com/article/index/213378/a-military-coup-in-yemen Did a search, didn't see it posted anywhere else. Verbally berate me/delete if I'm wrong... Edit - Speeling Edited March 23, 2011 by AFsock
StoleIt Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 So, can we start taking bets on a no fly zone in about a months time?
ClearedHot Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 So, can we start taking bets on a no fly zone in about a months time? No...Yemen will run out of oil around 2017 so they will be of little use... 1
PapaJu Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 No...Yemen will run out of oil around 2017 so they will be of little use... Look where they sit geographically though. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll get into a turf war with Somali pirates.
HercDude Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 No...Yemen will run out of oil around 2017 so they will be of little use... Well, good thing then that they have invested so heavily in a diverse economy and not hinged it all on hydrocarbons. Oh . . . well shit. 1
Seriously Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Well, good thing then that they have invested so heavily in a diverse economy and not hinged it all on hydrocarbons. Oh . . . well shit. What do you expect us to do, build more nuclear powerplants? That's crazy...
Guest AFsock Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Haven't you seen Japan? Those things are dangerous...
MKopack Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 (edited) Yemen: "I can see Somalia from my house." It isn't really the 'garden spot' of the Arabian Peninsula - a region not really known for being a 'garden spot' in general, but with all of the built in problems that could make the "worst case scenario" in Libya look like square one in Yemen. If Al Qaeda and everything historically that led to it has a natural backyard, as much as anywhere else, this is it. (Good call, Lockheed, corrected...) Edited March 23, 2011 by MKopack

Normally I'm not a spelling Nazi, and I understand there is no real approved Arabic-to-English standard spellings, but there are like three threads on here where dudes are spelling Al Qaeda with a "u" and it's weirding me out.
