nsplayr Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Big first story is the 747-8 just landed there a few hours ago. U-S-A, U-S-A!
schokie Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I'll be there! Not fortunate enough to be there for the entire show though.
Swizzle Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Paris est beau cette époque...except it's raining today. Monsieur Swizzle
HercDude Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Paris est beau cette époque...except it's raining today. Monsieur Swizzle Only problem is it's full of Frenchmen.
Guest fin Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 There's that wingtip clearance thing again... Airbus will not hold a demonstration of its A380 superjumbo at the Paris International Air Show after the wing-tip of its test aircraft was damaged in an incident Sunday, the company said. "During ground maneuvers with the Airbus A380 flight test aircraft MSN 004, the aircraft's right hand wing-tip touched a structure near the taxiway," at Le Bourget airport on Sunday afternoon, Airbus said in a statement. "Airbus experts are currently inspecting the aircraft, but it is already confirmed that the A380 MSN 004 will not perform the flying display at the Le Bourget Air Show 2011," it said. It was the second setback for Airbus ahead of the show, which starts Monday, after it announced earlier Sunday that its A400M military transport plane will not make any flight demonstrations because of a problem with its engines. WHAT?! No Way! I'm shocked. [/sarcasm] Chuck
ExBoneOSO Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 FM Probably won't see that in any Airbus propaganda pamphlet...
POKESC17 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Lucky enough to be here for the whole show. Airbus is not having a good first day. Watching them tow the A400 out for its demo then promptly tow it back to parking was priceless. Edited June 20, 2011 by POKESC17
Swizzle Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Wish I took a picture of the winglet stuck in the building that the plane hit. There is always tomorrow... The parking plan is horrendous and towing ops are crazy. Huge planes everywhere, planes taxiing through the crowds - it's nuts.
contraildash Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 The parking plan is horrendous and towing ops are crazy. Huge planes everywhere, planes taxiing through the crowds - it's nuts. Sounds like normal ops there...not on my list of favorite places I've been as far as airports.
Infamous Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 more on the Airbus fail https://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110620/us_yblog_thelookout/airbus-superjumbo-jet-clips-building-at-air-show# best comment What sound did it make when it bounced off the building? ... "boeing"? .
nunya Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hey Rainman... I know how you feel about talking to the media. Is it ok if we pose for the Chinese?
Guest Crew Report Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hey Rainman... I know how you feel about talking to the media. Is it ok if we pose for the Chinese? They wanted pictures of the first -17 pilot to land gear down. 1
SocialD Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) Hey Rainman... I know how you feel about talking to the media. Is it ok if we pose for the Chinese? It's NOT ok to pose like a homo! If this guys squadron has a good LPA, this will be plastered all over with plenty of room for quotes! Edited June 23, 2011 by SocialD
Butters Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 (edited) The French are so fucking stupid. "Hey, Peire, why don't we build a really fucking big plane that is impossible to taxi around airports?" Edited June 23, 2011 by Butters 1
PapaJu Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The French are so fucking stupid. "Hey, Peire, why don't we build a really fucking big plane that is impossible to taxi around airports?" Considering how many have bought it, not sure if it's Airbus that is stupid...
Bergman Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 The French are so fucking stupid. "Hey, Peire, why don't we build a really fucking big plane that is impossible to taxi around airports?" Damn! I thought this was just a "close call" type scrape. Nope...they pretty much ran into the building. At any point during the incident did the French waive a white flag toward the building or try to surrender to it?
POKESC17 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hey Rainman... I know how you feel about talking to the media. Is it ok if we pose for the Chinese? And now for the rest of the story. When they showed up to our jet all they wanted was pictures of our wonderful puke green boots. I'm expecting Chinese copies by the end of the week. I still chuckle when I think of them going nuts over our boots. They actually wanted close ups of the soles.
ThreeHoler Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Dear C17 pilots, thank you for consenting to international espionage...
Smokin Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 You should have just sold them your boots. That would help with the reverse engineering. Everyone knows suede boots are the key to airpower.
Butters Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) Considering how many have bought it, not sure if it's Airbus that is stupid... Really? What have you been reading? The A-380 has 236 orders, they need 420 to break even. Yea, that is smart! Now the Great American Boeing Corporation has 835 orders for its Manly 787 and already has 107 for the france smashing 747-8. America rules and france sucks. Deal with it! Jughead Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Damn! I thought this was just a "close call" type scrape. Nope...they pretty much ran into the building. At any point during the incident did the French waive a white flag toward the building or try to surrender to it? My question: at any point *prior* to the incident, did the French measure the distance from centerline to the building...? Then, say, I don't know, something about, "Gee, that number seems smaller than my wingtip clearance requirements"...?
SurelySerious Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 And now for the rest of the story. When they showed up to our jet all they wanted was pictures of our wonderful puke green boots. You should have refused pictures of our new secret green boots to mess with them.
