Masshole Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I felt a thread all about beer would compliment the gun thread. The premise is simple: drink a beer and rate it based on your own criteria. Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier Rating: 6.9 Reason: It was very easy to drink. Smooth, delicious, and pairs well with a variety of food. It starts with a lot of head and it takes awhile to go down (so to speak) . It kind of had an after taste akin to apple sauce and was a little too light for my palette. I recommend it to any fan of IPAs.
StoleIt Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Stella Artois Rating: 7.5 Reason: It's pretty damn good. 1
ClearedHot Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Landshark Rating: 10 Reason: My son walked down to the man cave and brought it to me. 1
GoAround Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Sam Adams Summer Ale: 8/10 Had it with 2 rib eyes last night, so good with grilled stuff.
Tank Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Alaska White 8/10 - very good wheat beer made in the USA
Masshole Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 Sam Adams Summer Ale: 8/10 Had it with 2 rib eyes last night, so good with grilled stuff. Have you ever had the Sam Adams Barrel Room beers? 1
Getzen2 Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Shiner Rating: 8.2 Reason: It was smooth, cold and was the last one of the night on Saturday. It put me to bed and didn't give me (too bad) a hangover.
Jughead Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 I felt a thread all about beer would compliment the gun thread. IBTL IBTM (merge)?
Masshole Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 IBTL IBTM (merge)? Balls. I thought I searched well enough. Maybe that Kraut beer was a little potent.
Hammer Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Budweiser aka Bud Heavy aka Diesel 7/10 I normally try to stay away from AB products because of I like to support small local breweries, however I was on the Beermaster tour at the St. Louis AB brewery and they let you drink straight from the finishing tanks. The entire warehouse is 30 degrees F and the beer had just finished brewing only 2 hours prior to hitting my lips. When in Rome. It was actually the best Bud I've ever drank, yet still only warrants a 7 because all of the great STL beers I had before that tour were better i.e Schlafly Summer and Morgan Street Stout. p.s. If you are ever at an AB plant that offers the Beermaster tour I highly recommend it. It's only 25 bucks a head and the tour experience itself is way better than the free one. And when it's all said and done you get about 6 beers out of it, 2 of which come straight from the tanks.
Bergman Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Michelob Ultra Rating: 5 (which is high praise for an AB product, coming from a Milwaukee area native!) Reason: It was in the cooler next to the neighborhood pool, which I was in. At 2pm on a weekday. For the third day in a row. God Bless the ANG!
F16Rooster Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Lazy Magnolia Southern Gold Rating: 8/10 Slight hoppiness, smooth. All the Lazy Magnolia beers that I've had are pretty good.
Clayton Bigsby Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Schneider Weise. 8/10 Still not as good as Lohrer Urtyp 1878, but close. And I found it at my corner liquor store here in CA.
ThreeHoler Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Tuborg. 9/10. Comes in 66cl and is only 3 euro. Easy pull top can be made into 'Tuborg bunny.' Motto is 'open for fun.' It didn't hurt any that the waitress had on a shirt with the motto right across her excellent chest.
HerkDerka Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Corona Light 9/10 Man Law #567...Beer does not require 690 pounds of hops per batch or a $9-per-bottle price tag to be good.
Insubordinate & Churlish Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Fat Tire 8/10 Because everything the New Belgium Brewing Co. makes is fantastic.
contraildash Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Has anyone had the chance to put back some "Life and Limb" from Sierra Nevada? WOW. Tanilla Vanilla Porter by Knee Deep Brewing 8/10 Had it on tap at a local cigar bar. Simply put, it was good stuff. From the interwebs: "Made with only grade-A Tahitian vanilla beans, Tanilla carries a smooth chocolate flavor complemented by the delicate intensity of vanilla beans, and a rich aroma of coffee."
Vertigo Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 (edited) Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat 9.5/10 Sweet, bready malt flavor, low hop bitterness and a hint of citrus. Actually tastes better as it gets warmer. Edited July 8, 2011 by Vertigo
Who? Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Took a self-guided tour of Seoul's microbrewery pubs last Saturday to explore, and while I can't say the craft is terribly advanced here, the last place I visited was probably the best - enjoyed the Geumgang Mountain Dark Ale at Craftworks Taphouse. Much deeper and more flavorful than what I'd had leading up to that. Seems the Koreans like their beer light and a little sweet, even in the microbrew world. The brewers will add a Weizen and maybe a Dunkel to the standard Pilsener for variety, but there were some good choices at Craftworks.
Dead Last Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Arrogant Basterd was the last beer I drank two months ago(deployed the next day) 9/10 only because the one I have waiting for me in my fridge back home will be 10/10... A no beer for a while cheers And a great topic!
schokie Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 A copy of Boddinton's Bitter that I brewed myself. I'd give it a 8/10. It would give it a 9/10 if it was slightly more bitter and the cranium retention was better. I think it might get there though with another week or two conditioning in the bottle. I'll second the recommendation for Chimay Red. The only thing better is Chimay Blue!
Trogdor Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 PBR... 10/10. smooth and simple. would only be about a 9, but it is about the only beer (I know of) that you can get a pint for $1.50 these days. So that gives it a bonus point. 2
'E. T.' Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 Yuengling Lager. 7/10: It was the only beer in the vault fridge. 3
