"For the Air Force, the majority of the Class C mishap increases came from cargo aircraft such as the C-130H Hercules and C-17A Globemaster, particularly from physical injuries when airmen were conducting maintenance or loading or unloading the aircraft."

Sweaties!  I knew it!  Remember folks...don't lift with your back...always lift with your E's!

They’ll conclude that it’s because of old planes so they can justify an increased budget. Then they’ll give it all to contractors large and small while continuing to refuse to pay you even what Congress has already authorized.

I don’t even think they’re getting kickbacks or post-retirement consultant jobs. They’re just myopic bureaucrats set in their ways, which is even harder to budge.

The 2nd and 3rd order effects of cancerous leadership philosophies and a lack of mission focus sometimes take time to manifest themselves...especially when many of the problems were being masked by commanders (and line bros) who are conditioned/socialized to never say "no" or "can't".

I always giggle about the "fields of friendly strife" quote from MacArthur that the AF loves to use, and how the Air Force conveniently forgets its corollaries about what fruits are later borne by mediocrity.

I’ve told him to his face why at one of his “CGO round tables” on why pilots are leaving.   It’s time he starts firing some wing commanders who are still propelling the queep monster while their pilot exec minions’ 90 day time is in the low tens.

What did he say?

He said he sent a memo out about getting rid of additional duties...all the ones that just got moved to the CCS (ie the execs)..

I consider myself fairly irreverent but a small part of me got triggered by that.  Perhaps I am missing an important piece of information regarding the video.

*to clarify, my second sentence was meant more as sarcasm. I do not think there is any missing information that makes this okay.*

I had to turn it off at the hand puppet. I seriously can’t believe these people are in the same USAF as me....actually I can and that’s even worse.

Tennessee is a good ANG unit too. I’d expect this from Alabama.

Hey!  This was in Nashville!!  Nothing to do with the flying units...it was either HQ or 118th (RPAs).

EDIT: just read they are TN HQ people.

She recited the enlistment oath with a t-rex sock puppet on her right hand.  It's pretty cringe-worthy.

Joke or no-joke, I can't imagine what went through her head, the O6 on the left, or the dude filming when they thought it'd be a good idea to post it online.  I'm by no means the most reverent person around and I thought it was pretty bad.

No time wasted I guess.

Seems pretty excessive to me, especially given the light punishments that accompany actual wrong-doing so often.

The message is clear - fuck up all you want, but don't embarrass the Air Force in public.

FWIW the 118th OG is a flying unit all day every day and twice on Sundays

Good. I hope they boot her ass out as well.

Negative ghostrider. 16 years of service and a PA/customs & courtesies fuck-up means you should be shown the door? Crashing airplanes negligently, getting others injured/killed, losing your weapon, etc. will all get you stars on your shoulder from what I've seen (no shit), but something like this means you get the boot no questions asked? I agree with pawnman above - this is an ass-chewing punishment, not a lose-your-retirement punishment.

I know the internet outrage machine is turned up to 11 and it's a nice neat narrative that, "Haha, look at those POGs in the ANG with their fucking sock puppets!" and I cringed and face-palmed too, especially because this was right down the street from where our guys are sitting and taking the fight to the enemy, but zoom out a little bit and realize we've all made mistakes that would probably severely embarrass the Air Force. Luckily for most of us there weren't any cameras around.
