Nostalgia. It was one of the best trolls ever, people here were losing their minds. Those were good times.

I think both the reg change and the reaction from the masses are distracting arguments...however, c'mon Big Blue, get your shit on one sock and make sure your public media recruiting campaigns are squared away first!

Although having seen how the Puzzle Palace works over the last few budget cycles, the lack of thought beyond the initial good idea fairy isn't surprising.

It takes that sort of attention to detail to ensure Boeing's commercial sales are humming right along.

All is not as it appears, read beyond the headlines.  Just because commercial sales are humming along does NOT mean you are making money, quite the opposite with Boeing:

1.  Losses piled up for Boeing in 2024 - BLUF - They lost $11B in 2024

2. Boeing has lost $32 billion since 2019, with no end in sight. How long can it keep losing money?

3. Boeing’s Self-Inspection Program Is Deeply Flawed - BLUF Boeing has long operated under the Organization Designation Authority (ODA), which allows them to sign off inspections in lieu of FAA inspectors.  With all the recent issues including the recent door blow out, the FAA has severely restricted their ODA.

I didn't realize this. Bad leadership doesn't just retire, they go on to assist screwing up billion dollar industries.

I think Rat fits right into the rotted corporate culture there.

Didn’t get much better as a Wing Commander. Herk bros under him just about almost blanket partied him.

I'm just impressed you haven't slipped up over the years.  Impressive.

One of my better purchases pre 737 debacle.  Down 51.7% to be exact 🙂

Boeing also had the C-17 ATS contract terminated and is currently in rebid due to their poor performance. I'm sure they'll be bidding, unless prohibited by the USAF due to the C-17 ATS performance, on bidding on the KC-46 ATS later this year (Est. Value $500M).

One of the last bastions of freedom has been breached: no more Friday shirts in flight suits, even just in our own building ☠️ In a GUARD flying squadron on an independent GUARD base. The fun police have truly entered the cathedral and are busy defiling the alter.

Morale is now alive only in the smallest crevices of my cold, dead heart.

There’s a strict don’t ask, don’t tell policy when it comes to morale. Any public displays of morale will not be tolerated.

And to think…I’ve heard stories from the old timers about busing in strippers on drill weekend and people didn’t even own hats let alone wear them…

You know, all this fuckery is getting insufferable. However, I can't imagine having to deal with this crap and be a liberal in the military. Between uniform inspections and Trump's EOs it must feel like the apocalypse cometh.

Isn't it hilarious that the same senior leaders that will complain about how our generation doesn't want to stay in and only thinks about the airlines, somehow completely misses the fact that when they were company grade officers they were basically living a frat boy's wet dream, with no real deployments, mission, or sacrifice? I had one Colonel tell a story about drunkenly arriving his car into a light pole at the OClub, only to have SF drive him home and pick him up in the morning to retrieve his vehicle. That same colonel then defended the 0-0-1-3 policy and giving article 15s to officers who were drunk in public. He had nothing to say when I asked if he had a bottle of scotch in his desk as a wing Commander.

These guys are nothing but cowardly hypocrites. They enjoyed a system that was so awesome and carefree that it gave them the camaraderie and memories to stick around when the job inevitably gets lamer and lamer as you gain more and more responsibilities. But they can't see that without that first decade of awesome memories, there's no nostalgia to keep you tied to the organization. It is bordering on criminally stupid that the leadership of an organization desperate to retain talent can't see that allowing colored t-shirts and large mustaches is a no-brainer.

This isn't the first time they've tried to take Friday shirts away.  The last two times I remember them trying that, we just kept wearing them.  It drove the Chiefs (outside of ops) nuts.  Eventually the winds shifted and Friday shirts came back.  If you're off station, instead of wearing your ACC/AMC patch, wear the ANG patch...people generally leave you alone.

You just have to get your own, off-base establishment.  Our state doesn't allow alcohol on base, so we found a building just off base, rented it and turned it into a bar.  Way, it is easier to have shenanigans off base anyway.
