Napoleon_Tanerite Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Disappointing. One air show demo does more than what a thousand cheezy sci-fi TV commercials can do in terms of getting people to notice the Air Force.
BattleRattle Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 The million dollar question now is when will TIB be cut.
Cap-10 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 This is olds news! Everyone has knows since back in Dec, just before the ICAS conference.....all the solo's teams except F-22 are cancelled. The screwed up thing is that they are still allowing the demo jets to go to airshows when participating in a Heritage Flight, but they won't fly their single ship profile, so all of the normal XC expenses are still being spent. Cheers, Cap-10
Ram Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The PACAF Viper Demo Team remains. It's more of a PACOM political thing (with other nations we like to keep as friends) than anything else, but I'm glad it wasn't axed.
spaw2001 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Cut everyone else's programs, but don't touch my favorite ones regardless of how frivolous they are!
GoAround Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Couldn't care less that these demo teams were cut. Anyone in the air force knows that these demo pilots couldn't make it on the elite Thunderbirds.
C-21.Pilot Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Couldn't care less that these demo teams were cut. Anyone in the air force knows that these demo pilots couldn't make it on the elite Thunderbirds. Yep, you're clueless.
GoAround Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Yep, you're clueless. Yep, you can't detect sarcasm if it stamped a mushroom on your forehead. 6
HuggyU2 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 The level of buffoonery at ACC that was involved in this decision is staggering. Granted, they think they are saving some cash. Too bad they didn't ask any of the Demo Teams to weigh in on where the "supposed savings" would be. Had they done that, they certainly would have left them alone.
Spoo Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 The million dollar question now is when will TIB be cut. This.

Awww, c'mon Huggy -- you've been around long enough to know that it doesn't matter a lick what the actual impact of a certain decision is, it only matters how that decision looks.
LockheedFix Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Good thing ACC still has the MC-12 demo team! Nice. Have they got the aileron roll down yet, or just sticking with the barrel roll? 1
spaw2001 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nice. Have they got the aileron roll down yet, or just sticking with the barrel roll? Too soon?
sky_king Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nice. Have they got the aileron roll down yet, or just sticking with the barrel roll? There's a difference?
Winchester Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Too soon? Nope. ######ing morons. Cut em all I say. Thunderchickens, TIB, all of them.
HuggyU2 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nope. ######ing morons. Cut em all I say. Thunderchickens, TIB, all of them. Somebody woke up grumpy this morning.
guineapigfury Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I always hate to see flying gigs and good deals go away.
B52gator Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I can go both ways on this (STS). There are pros and cons. The demo dudes were a lot more down to earth than the t-chicks and it was nice seeing something other than a Viper all the time. If these demo teams have to go, TIB should as well. 1
StoleIt Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 The fact that demo teams were cut before TIB is a good demonstrator for how jacked up the AF currently is... 1
HoHum Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 The fact that demo teams were cut before TIB is a good demonstrator for how jacked up the AF currently is... So. F'n. True. 1
HuggyU2 Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 (edited) There are pros and cons. Let's hear some pros to cutting the demo teams, then. The demo dudes were a lot more down to earth than the t-chicks... Do you know (past or present) anyone on the Thunderbirds? Everyone I've known on the team has been just fine. Some better than others, but all that I've known are folks I enjoy spending time with. Edited April 22, 2012 by Huggyu2 1
guineapigfury Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Let's hear some pros to cutting the demo teams, then. 1. Saves money 2. Those pilots can go to other billets which need to be filled (staff). I don't know whether those pros outweigh the cons or not.
