Tank Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 https://afthunderbirds.com/site/show-season/ "The implementation of across-the-board cuts in federal spending has caused the curtailment of the Thunderbirds 2013 show schedule. Effective April 1, all of the team’s performances have been cancelled. The team still plans to perform at the Titusville, Fla., air show March 23-24." I hope this happens to Tops in Blue and all the other "morale" functions considering the Thunderbirds reach more people than any military band.
Fuzz Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) Doubtful, why is it with the vast majority of AF leadership being rated pilots that the Thunderbirds are first to be grounded but no mention if TIB? Oh wait I forgot sequestration was supposed to hurt, so cutting the TBirds and keeping TIB makes perfect sense. Edited March 6, 2013 by Scaredfuzz21
Slander Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Politics. The T-Birds and Blue Angels are famous. Cutting them allows the chiefs to give congress the finger in the public perception.
tac airlifter Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 ...everyone can cease the panic attacks. TIB is canceled. Link?

matmacwc Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 In other news, at Hill AFB yesterday for a jet pickup from depot, remember the TBird Viper that wrecked at Mt Home. Few years back? They rebuilt it and are sending it back to Nellis as an aggressor, wouldn't fly that bird.

Breckey Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 He was the Wg/SE guy at Columbus a few years back. Seemed like a good dude from a lowly 2nd Lt POV. Just goes to show mistake =/ crime.
10percenttruth Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 He took over as the IFF CC after his safety gig, probably didn't hurt either.
