Butters Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 Came across this of a Lufthansa A380 doing a landing at SFO, its long but it shows the complete automation of the landing. https://www.wimp.com/approachlanding/ So, if a guy hand flying the approach is "complete automation, what do you consider "hand flying?" Does that mean the guy is getting out of the seat, climbing out onto the wing and manipulating the flight controls by hand?
Prosuper Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Well sitting the jump seat on many 707/135, B-52 landings that looked effortless compared to the stick inputs on approach on a old Boeing. HU&W Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Just waiting for the first person to get officially assigned one of those four names as his/her callsign.
ram02 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Wow. On a lighter note: The crew I failed was given another check and continued a fly while talking about how unfair Captain Brown was. Tom B https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qu3WTghLUtA 3
Steve Davies Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Got this the other day. Interesting read, although I find myself wondering why anyone would retire as a UAL 747 captain then take another job. Already been posted twice before in this thread, Bergman.
MooseBoost Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 https://imgur.com/a/f6kMe Can't claim I took or even found these, got'em off reddit, thought baseops might be interested in how f***ed up the interior is from the accident

LockheedFix Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 (edited) The new approach lights installed at San Francisco International Airport after the Asiana Crash... Those are actually not a bad idea. I wonder if they could get those at Dover. And then install some that say " NOT MCDILL" at that Peter O. Knight place. Edited August 9, 2013 by LockheedFix 6
