Napoleon_Tanerite Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Has anyone watched this idiotic show? The name pretty much lays out what the show is all about. The episode I'm watching right now is showing a guy "repossessing" a Gulfstream II and they are implying that the guy is sneaking it out of the airport without airport security (or presumably the FAA or anyone else) knowing. They are taking off out of a NTA at night in this Gulfstream right into IMC. So are they saying they took off into IMC without filing an IFR flight plan? Doubtful.
WeatherManC130 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I've seen the first 2 episodes. The acting is terrible, but at least it is entertaining to watch.
ChiefSlapahoe Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I find the show entertaining. I'm sure there's stone exaggerations but if it's anything life car repos then there probably isn't much since repos are dramatic in nature.
HerkFE Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 That guy from Texas, Kevin Lacey, is a friend of a friend of mine. I've never met him but he seems like he would be cool to have a beer with.
hd5032 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 There's a disclaimer at the end that says they use a lot of recreations, etc for "safety" reasons. They showed a guy taking off the other day with no radios, no runway lights and allegedly barely any fuel.
murdocjxx Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 That guy from Texas, Kevin Lacey, is a friend of a friend of mine. I've never met him. How does that work?
KState_Poke22 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 How does that work? Well you see HerkFE has a friend...and his friend also has a friend...and that friend is Kevin Lacey...and HerkFE has never met him.
ChiefSlapahoe Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Well you see HerkFE has a friend...and his friend also has a friend...and that friend is Kevin Lacey...and HerkFE has never met him. Wait wait, you lost me at "also has a friend"....I only learn when hand puppets explain it to me.

slacker Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 This is just like any other docu-drama, highly sensationalized. Every aviation docu-drama (Repo, Hurricane Hunter, Flying Wild Alaska) is so produced that every little thing is an emergency or a near-death situation. To aircrew, these shows are far from accurate and it makes you question any other show that deals in a subject matter that you're not an expert in. Do crab fishermen scoff at Deadliest Catch, probably. I still watch because I know jack-crap about crab fishing. 1
BADFNZ Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 So you mean the part where they land and there are 6-9 cop cars awaiting them with a camera crew helo overhead filming the whole thing is staged?
HerkFE Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Well you see HerkFE has a friend...and his friend also has a friend...and that friend is Kevin Lacey...and HerkFE has never met him. F'in shack.
JarheadBoom Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I've watched a few episodes, basically because I'll watch just about anything aviation-related at least once, and I actually have first-hand experience with an aircraft repossession (actually it was a helicopter, but the principle is the same). Plenty of manufactured drama, just like any other "reality" show, but mildly entertaining.
