Napoleon_Tanerite Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 You forgot "last minute TDY/tasker to squeeze the last drop of blood from you before you leave" and "write your own PCS medal, ass chewed when it's late"
Fuzz Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) "civilians cubicle full of wolf periphenalia", I'm pretty sure I know exactly who that is. Edited August 21, 2013 by Fuzz 1
Smokin Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Need to add a square about having to learn everyone else's job because they obviously don't know it themselves. 1
Cell Dweller Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 You can replace "furlough" with "alternate work schedule"
spaceman Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Sweet I have PCS'd one time and I already won!
ExBoneOSO Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) Sad thing is...take out the references to DTS and CBTs, all of that applied 20 years ago too...what do they say, "the more things change, the more things stay the same"? Edited August 21, 2013 by ExBoneOSO
Spinner Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I got a phone call from the MPF last week. "Sir, we're trying to create your PCS orders, but we have no idea where you are going." Me, "Shall I bring you a map?" Dead silence... 2
spaceman Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I got a call from the movers on the day my stuff was supposed to be delivered, asking "Where are you moving to and when are you arriving there?" I had only been sleeping on a cot waiting for my shit to arrive for about three weeks! 1
contraildash Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 "We do not know where your HHG were stored for the past year"
pawnman Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I totally won with my last PCS. It becomes a lot less stressful once you realize that most of the things on the virtual out-processing checklist will never actually be looked at.
mcbush Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 PCS'd about three weeks ago. Think I've hit 19 of the 24 squares above.
abmwaldo Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 In the middle of a PCS; I found out that the squadron exec could sign off ALL areas of vMPF. I don't know if this is standard exec "power" but I consider it a win when every office failed to sign it off I just called the exec and poof it was signed off.
Azimuth Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 You forgot "last minute TDY/tasker to squeeze the last drop of blood from you before you leave" and "write your own PCS medal, ass chewed when it's late" "I know your HHG pickup is that day, but could you reschedule it so we could use you on a crew for the NORE?"
magnetfreezer Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 "I know your HHG pickup is that day, but could you reschedule it so we could use you on a crew for the NORE?" Yep...knew a dude whose fini flight was his AC checkout - and his wife couldn't be there since she had to stay home to wait for HHG.
Azimuth Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Yep...knew a dude whose fini flight was his AC checkout - and his wife couldn't be there since she had to stay home to wait for HHG. My DO at the time told me that. I just laughed and walked away. Dude at by last base had a fini flight that ended up being a no-notice check. 1
nunya Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Got one happening right now. Walked into Finance at 0837. Male and female TSgts in the office. Female is on her cell phone. Me: "I'd like to outprocess." Male TSgt: "We open at 9, sir. We'll help you then." Where's Robin Olds when you need him?
Lawman Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 CIF on every Army post.... Phone call on DSN Me: hi I'm PCS'ing and need to do a partial turn in... retired E8: we only do turn it's by appointment... Me: great when can I set up an appointment? Passed over for E9 dipshit: we don't take phone appointments... Me: so can I just walk in his afternoon? Fungus feeding of the dead corpse of the military civilian work program: No we are closed in the afternoons now because of manning. Me: so when do I actually come in and make an appointment? Asshat who runs his warehouse hovel like he's king of all the canteen cups: We can't see you without an appointment.... And then the room went black from rage.....
Techsan Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 In the middle of a PCS; I found out that the squadron exec could sign off ALL areas of vMPF. I don't know if this is standard exec "power" but I consider it a win when every office failed to sign it off I just called the exec and poof it was signed off. It's definitely not standard, however when I was exec-ing-it I needed to add something to the checklist. I called FSS to see if they could add it for me, then get an email saying I had been granted full admin rights. Not surprising they would rather give me access to just do it myself so they wouldn't have to.
addict Posted August 22, 2013 Posted August 22, 2013 Last year MPF sent me the wrong checklist, and also loaded the wrong one in vMPF. For a primary function, if outbound assignments makes a mistake like that, I would expect some immediate corrections.... not caught until I completed it and tried to get orders. "Oh, the codes don't match."
brabus Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Dude at by last base had a fini flight that ended up being a no-notice check What...the...fuck. That's some doucheness of the highest order. 2
sky_king Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Yep...knew a dude whose fini flight was his AC checkout - and his wife couldn't be there since she had to stay home to wait for HHG. So... what happens if he Q3's it? Are they going to PCS him on a Q3?
The Texan Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Learned I need to go through my 'unit health monitor' to schedule dental. 5 days after email request to said individual, no results. Attempts to catch said individual in designated place of work futile. However, I am free to call flt med on my own like a big kid. Scheduled PT test with the UPTM, no problems. Friday get an email from FSS saying if I don't schedule a PT test within X days, one will be chosen for me. Got an email RIP for my next PCS from assignments whose instructions on the email made no sense. Had to make trip to assignments to decode email. "That's just a cookie-cutter email we send out everyone. This is what you actually need to do for orders." Make it stop.
abmwaldo Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Forgot to mention at the beginning of this PCS, prior to receding orders, from Tyndall AFB, Florida to Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma I needed to use the OCONUS checklist. Well, Lower Alabama is it's own planet.....
Duff_Man Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) This is me about halfway through any AFPC checklist Edited September 3, 2013 by Duff_Man 1
