Assuming you have a boom mike on your hemet already, you are probably going to need a way to make your voice heard- If you have a paddle-shaped low impedance mike from a Herc, without something like the link- you are going to hear the laughter but not be able to transmit your quibbling.

eta- if you can't handle a screwdriver or get some help at AFE- you can try this for a few bucks less-

Thanks! It's actually just for my car so I can hook it up to a portable and drive around the airport real fast - sooooooo, mask up. I sure hope people see me and think I'm finally cool after that.

If you want to convert a headset from mil to civ, a quick google search will net you an adapter for the H10-76 (standard David Clark headset) for about $75. I don't see why that wouldn't work for a helmet, but YMMV.
