gscott Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) AFRC is closing our squadron this year and the members are getting little help in finding a new TR job. I ran across this document on the AFRC website, anyone ever heard of this program? I asked my MPF about it and surprise......they knew nothing and offered little help. I might call the POC on page 3 (marked as page 1) but I first wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it? My guess is that just about anyone coded as "displaced" is eligible (just as this document states), but I have this idea in the back of my head that if you are aircrew you can forget about it, only good old fashion networking, interview, etc, will land you a new aircrew job. In my case I know what unit I'd like to go to and have been talking to them, however right now they are near (if not already at) 100% manning. So I wonder if a program like this might allow an overage for a displaced TR, again it seems to mention some language in here about overages but it would sure be nice to hear if anyone has real experience with it. Thanks Here is the link again in case one above does not work. https://www.afrc.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-130401-031.pdf Edited January 10, 2014 by gscott
Vicious3027 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Wish I would have had this information when my unit was going through BRAC last year. Thankfully, we weren't BRAC'd, but this can come in handy if, or when, the next time base closures come up.
hindsight2020 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 You said it brother. As small a community as we are in the grand scheme of things, your best bet is just to call around the units. I'm sure they're somewhat spun up on the happenings of your specific airframe and are probably targeting certain individuals for TR billets. I'm not really sure how that formal program works but I sincerely doubt it would facilitate the overbilleting you seek in order to get hired in the unit that you happen to want. I'm afraid it always comes down to good ol networking. Keep knocking on doors, someone's bound to hire ya. I'm surprised your leadership is letting you guys flail like that. I would expect a lot of referrals to be coming out of you guys commander's office. Good luck.
