FishBowl Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I'm an AD enlisted dude applying to various Guard/Reserve units and I understand the importance of face time with the respective squadrons. I've sent out a few applications and have rushed a couple units already and plan on more. I've always worn business casual while dropping-in during UTAs, but never really thought of it as a negative. In my head, ABUs are utility uniforms and don't look too sharp. Blues, on the other hand, seem over-the-top and, frankly, dorky for a drop-in. Still, for formal interviews/boards I would 100% wear service dress. My question is: Do you think wearing a nice business casual outfit, as opposed to a uniform, is hurting my chances?
JarheadBoom Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Personally, I don't think so. Especially if you're dropping in during their UTA, on your own time.
12xu2a3x3 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Don't most boards tell you to wear blues when you interview? I can't see anyone in ops ever asking "why are you wearing ABUs" if you stop in. It would sound sort of ridiculous even if what they're asking is "why are you wearing them if you're here and thus, off duty." 1
