HuggyU2 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Are any of you flying in there in a military aircraft for static display?
Whitman Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) Are any of you flying in there in a military aircraft for static display? Planning on taking leave and flying the RV-4 up, but it's hard to turn down an all expense paid trip to OSH, even if the flying isn't as fun! What are you flying up Huggy? HossHarris Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 (edited) We're sending a 38 and 22. Nope, that was sun and fun. I'm retarded Edited April 29, 2015 by HossHarris
raimius Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Good. Last year was kind of weak showing, IMO. There was a MV-22, an HH-65, and a static C-17. T-birds put on a good show, but I'd rather see a demo from a non dog-and-pony fighter.
HuggyU2 Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 Last year was kind of weak showing, IMO. You do recall there was this thing call "sequestration" last year, right?
raimius Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 You do recall there was this thing call "sequestration" last year, right? Yup.
Bode Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Not to derail the thread but I think that a word is still happening. Glad to see we are spending $$ wisely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
HuggyU2 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Posted April 28, 2015 Yup.Apologies. I came across as a rude. That year was a significant change for military displays, and I know most everyone was caught up in it.
bucky60k Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Planning on flying my Chipmunk up for Warbird Parking 1
brewskis Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I'll be there all week with the kiddo. Catching a ride in my old man's Bonanza up there. Should be a fun week.
raimius Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Apologies. I came across as a rude. That year was a significant change for military displays, and I know most everyone was caught up in it. No issue. That wasn't whining about units not wanting/trying to go, but about the show. "Talking" on the internet can do that. Edited May 1, 2015 by raimius
brewskis Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Thread bump. Has anyone done the Appleton deal? My group rented out some space in a house by the field, so we decided to try the less congested option getting in there since we have a place to crash.
HuggyU2 Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 Elaborate. Are you flying there in GA aircraft? Rented by which field? OSH? ATW? Need more info. Feel free to pm me.
Stealth81 Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 I'm not sure if you ever got an answer brewskis. I live in Appleton and work in Oshkosh and I'd be happy to answer any questions you or anyone else has about the area. I'll only be on the EAA grounds next Wednesday and Thursday since my boss doesn't think that AirVenture is as important as I do and won't give me the whole week off.
HuggyU2 Posted July 19, 2015 Author Posted July 19, 2015 Looking for contact info for anyone flying in a T-38 for static during the week.
DEVIL Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Sorry to hijack your KOSH Coord room Huggy, but... "All runways at EAA AirVenture grounds in Oshkosh are open after a plane made a hard landing and caught fire Wedesday morning, closing the airport for almost three hours. Five people were aboard the plane at the time of the crash and all were transported to local hospitals after the Piper Malibu plane came in for a rough landing on Runway 27 at Wittman Regional Airport at 7:45 a.m." https://wbay.com/2015/07/22/wittman-regional-airport-closed-after-runway-incident/
stract Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 interesting quote from that article “He stated that on sharp final another airplane either crossed his path or entered through the taxiway on the runway,” said Cerecke. “Made him make some maneuver to prevent collision with the other airplane and ended up putting the plane into a stall.”
Whitman Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 interesting quote from that article He stated that on sharp final another airplane either crossed his path or entered through the taxiway on the runway, said Cerecke. Made him make some maneuver to prevent collision with the other airplane and ended up putting the plane into a stall. I believe that. Happened to me and a few other friends here too, but without the stall part. Here's a video of my landing Sat. https://youtu.be/BaO0ZaftAG0
Whitman Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I hope you got out and throat punched that pilot. It wasn't necessary, but did make things exciting, especially since I already went around once thanks to ATC buffoonery. I think the dude was just so engrossed in following the procedures and lost SA.
Champ Kind Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 the dude was just so engrossed in following the procedures and lost SA. My UPT write ups in a nutshell!
Whitman Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 My UPT write ups in a nutshell! Haha! Sounds like fun for you!
