M2 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Yeah, I was sad to see James Best had passed away last month. I actually emailed him several years ago when there was a big backlash against Dukes of Hazzard going around because of the rebel flag and all that. I wanted to let him know we were big fans of the show. He actually sent a very nice reply, and stated that if there was anything he could do for me or anyone else in the military, he would gladly do so. It was sincere, and just the kind of man he was. During Dukes, Best and Sorrell Booke (who played Boss Hogg) became close friends and would often improvise their scenes together, making up their own dialogue as they went along. The pair's comical ability became apparent and a popular element of the series. Rest in peace, Roscoe P. Coltrane. The world will be a duller place without you!
