I was just told that 140 days or more in the Guard constitutes a PCS... versus 180 days for Active Duty.

I'll check the JFTR, but can anyone verify that is what they have actually seen?

I'm not a flyer, but my PME was over 180 days and being guard, they consider over 139 days in the JFTR to be the magic number.

PCS'ing in the guard is never a PCS, it's temporary duty (TDY) for something like pilot/tech training or whatever.  Since you never detach from your home station, your PERMANENT station, it's never permanently changing stations in practice; even in theory, it's not a PCS.  But the ANGI or JFTR will tell you it is, to save $.

I do wonder how legal it is to send somebody on temporary duty but pretend, by writing into an instruction, that it's a full up, permanent move from one station to another.  Just because it's called a PCS, doesn't mean you can't take to the JAG and/or IG for investigation into fraud.

More than 139 is a pcs but there are instances where it can be a tdy, in those instances the traveler will recieve flat rate per diem instead. Most people on a PCS like this won't do a full move, maybe a partial dity (ppm)
