mudhen69 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 I am currently an ART in traditional associate unit that flies M-F. I am thinking about becoming a HS teacher and I am wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who has any experience/luck with trying to balance M-F flying with a "day job" like as a teacher. I know I could make up mil-duty in the summers but I would not want to go the whole school year w/o flying. To maintain a level of proficency that I would be comfortable with, I would like to try to fly 4-6 times per month but that would likely mean missing 4-6 days of work (school needs a sub, students "suffer"). I don't know if there is a better way of doing it. I am totally happy with being an ART but I have always wanted to teach HS. We live well within our means and my wife makes enough money that I could absorb the pay cut. There are a couple opportunites here in the county I live in that are attractive enough to pique my interest.
