Liberals are not nearly as good...HUH...You won the Senate.  Ever heard of Deplorables or Mega-MAGA?  Come on man!

Focused on a single candidate/sitting president. Dems have not been successful at convincing their voters that the entirety of the Republican Party is evil like the fruits of the devil, as have conservatives with their voting base. The only reason Dems won the Senate is because of the objective awfulness of Republican candidates (ref. The Herschel Walker discussion), not because voters are convinced Republicans suck. In fact, I’d wager there are many voters out there wishing the Rs would actually put up candidates they could stomach voting for. These midterms were Republicans’ to lose, & they lost spectacularly.

You are fundamentally wrong here. Democrats have done an AMAZING job of convincing their base that Republicans are generally evil. In fact, both parties have successfully contorted their cultural war platform into a morality war platform, which has provided vigor to their base that this is a political fight that needs won for moral reasons. If I don't support democratic/liberal/progressive values I am clearly a racist, a misogynist, homophobic, fascist etc... This has blanket applied to every single Republican candidate in every election and progressives have pushed and promoted it.

I disagree with that assessment.  Not only did the DNC push that narrative, they purposely endorsed and DONATED to so called MAGA candidates in the primaries.  While Herschel walker was a horrible candidate, not all GOP options were terrible.   I think the abortion decision tipped the balance, and will likely continue to do so.

One thing is perfectly clear, the polls are crap and candidates better find new ways to address what is really important to voters.

FWIW the polls this cycle were quite good, especially if you followed the credible aggregators and especially if they took some of the Trafalgars of the world with a grain of salt. A small Dem over performance that tipped many close senate races their way doesn’t discount the value of polls, especially when considered as a whole.

No I don't automatically think that. This guy is about as reverend as Sharpton and Jackson.

Is he not a long-time head pastor of a very famous church in Atlanta? I don’t get the critique maybe…he seems perfectly reasonable, we’ll spoken, fluent on important policies, and free of notable personal scandal. Of all the Dems to really single out and hate, he’s a very odd choice IMHO.

…but lets be honest, even a good candidate would have struggled given the fervor the leftist have for tanking this nation.

Republicans won every state-wide race in Georgia this cycle except the Senate race, which they ultimately lost by 3 points.

Gov. Kemp, in the same election, was re-elected by > 7 points over a Dem candidate who was a darling of many in the national party and had very high name ID.

Seems like candidate quality really mattered! Honestly I think if David Perdue had run for Senate again rather than his suicide primary campaign against Kemp he could have won the race against Warnock.

So you don't know much about him other than where you get you news from.

Yea, like I don’t know him personally but am somewhat familiar with his voting record and the outlines of his personal and professional life before his election in 2021.

I’m open to hearing more! Why in particular is Warnock worse than say, Ossoff or some random other replacement-level Dem senator (Hickenlooper, Murray, Coons…those are the most boring ones I can think of.)

Here let me help you with a few of his quotes:

1.  "America, no one can serve God and the military."

2.  "No matter what happens next month, more than a third of the nation that would go along with this, is reason to be afraid. America needs to repent for its worship of Whiteness."

Herschel is a mess, but this fake "Reverend" is simply a radical.

I think to much emphasis was placed on what the polls said about the issues.  Yes American's are worried about the economy but they hate Trump more.  I also think the importance of the Abortion decision was understated.

1. "America, nobody can serve God and the military. You can’t serve God and money. You cannot serve God and mammon at the same time. America, choose ye this day who you will serve. Choose ye this day."

That's the full quote, referencing Matthew 6:24, and I would tend to agree. Unfortunate that he would choose to pick out "the military" rather than just "your job/career" but he's the preacher and I'm not, let him cook.

2. Oh no, the black preacher from Ebenezer Baptist is getting political and I don't like it...when has that happened before? 🧐 White people may not feel comfortable with some of the messages on race and politics being preached in Black churches (and vice versa FWIW), also breaking news, the water is wet.

Look I'm not super religious and I don't really like religious figures who are political all that much anyways...but I accept that it's not my flavor and move on. There are tons of other religious figures taking overt political stances and that's fine in a free country. Also, tax the churches.

It also might be semantics, but calling Warnock a "fake 'Reverend'" seems weird...he has a MDiv, MPhil and PhD from Union Theological Seminary and is the full-time head pastor of a church. Seems to me like he's earned the title even if you don't like the messages in his sermons!

All that to say, I like Warnock in general! He is a middle of the road Democrat who seems well spoken on policy and connects with regular people. I think he has a bright future in the party and the fact that he won GA now 4 times in 2 years kinda shows that voters even in a relatively conservative state tend to agree.

Better luck in 2028! The GOP should try not to nominate a totally soulless corporate nobody (Loeffler) or an unfortunately brain-damaged college football star with a lot of hidden kids, abortions on his credit card receipts, and fake police badges (Walker) 😎

I grew up Catholic (I'm a mick bastard).  I never once heard race brought up at mass.  Never.

Can a Priest (preacher for non catholics) get away with saying stop worshiping blackness in 2022?  When do black people stop getting a racism pass?

If we paid reparations, would the black population be happy?  If we give them their 40 acres and a mule?

We have all been made painfully aware for the sins of our fathers.  How far back do I get to blame others for crimes against my family.  I'd like to blame England for forcing my family from Ireland during 1870 (actual year most of my family came over) due to starvation.   Who can I blame.  Maybe this is why my family is full of drug abuse and alcoholism?

Get over your race.  We don't get to choose that (as of today).  We're all stuck here together for some magical reason in the USA.  The sooner we quit making things about race, the better.

I have a complete disdain for slavery.  I find it very difficult to imagine humans doing that to others.  Telling your followers that whiteness is the reason for your problems is a lame excuse to remove responsibility from your actions.

I’m also largely Scottish with some Irish thrown in and Catholic…so I’m surprised you are unsure who you can blame for your family’s plight. The British! You can and absolutely should still blame them. Screw King Charles the Turd and his whole wanker family. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪

This is also a classic American view that the Founding Fathers would 100% endorse 🇺🇸

I 100% endorse this. We do not attribute enough responsibility of our country's history with slavery/racism to the British. That was not a system we instituted. It was a system they did, particularly one ultra powerful family did, to benefit their wealth and empire. They really should assume and take responsibility for the majority of the blame.

Im not blaming anyone for any misfortune my family has encountered in the past.   Blaming them doesn't help make my life any better.   Actions that I personally take have more impact on my well being than what the English did over 150 years ago.   We as Americans need to act like we're all on the same team.   Nobody cares what we look like in most of the world.  We're all called Americans.  That's what we are now whether people want to be or not.  Real Africans talk much shit about African Americans as the Irish talk about Irish Americans.   The rest of the world calls us Americans.  Not Mexican Americans, Irish Americans, Italian Ameicans or African Americans, simply Americans.

We either get on board or it fails.

"Unfortunate"...When a U.S. senator hols that view of the military...sorry I won't just let him cook.

45,000 dumbasses.

Anyone who buys a fckng computer image is a borderline retard.

He reminds me of a snake oil salesman in that video.

The last two presidents have been ridiculous.   Freaking clown show.  Trump did some good things but he's a douche. I'm still trying to figure out what Biden is doing (so is Biden)?  He should be in a nursing home.

Let's get someone better to lead our country.  I wouldn't let Trump or Biden run the snackbar.   We need real leaders.

Trump's only hope was going to be rational behavior until the election.  But, he has doubled-down on the clown (sorry).

Defensive downward spiral?

We should (for fun) be thinking up silly/jackass things he can do over the next couple of years to further distance people.  I'll start:

A new superhero movie franchise, starring D. Trump.  What will his superpowers be like?  How many does he save, how many must die?

Anyway, you get the idea - I've finally had it.

He's cashing in.  He'll milk his followers until they are broke.

If republicans were coordinated, or proactive, or serious in any way about winning an election ever again.. this would be the moment to strongly distance from trump.

I don't understand the RNC.  I'm trying really hard to not go down the deep state hole because there are a shitload of crazies in that space.  But a small child could figure out that Trump is not good for the Republican party.  Something is wrong.  We have the guy - DeSantis.  It couldn't be more obvious.  But now we're going to have to wring our hands until the primaries to see what Trump is going to do.  The RNC is currently a bunch of incompetent idiots, or the whole construct has been rigged.  Something is wrong.
