I think this is a large part of it.

States were awarded higher grades on this graphic for "Voters automatically receive a ballot" and "Ballot does not require a witness signature." They were docked points for "Voters are required to provide a copy of photo ID for the mail application and/or ballot."

I see a lot of left leaning As and Bs and a lot of right leaning Fs and Ds.

2020 Electoral College for comparison

I also find this 20 million number troubling. Good point about the Covid mail in ballots explaining part of this, but I would argue that during Covid, people were petrified to leave their homes, much less vote., especially Democrats, who seemed the most nervous about Covid.  I really find it incredulous that 20 million more votes were cast in 2020..

81,000,000 votes down to ~62,000,000 votes DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. That is inexplicable.
That doesn't happen without a very clear reason. Period.

It's anomalous in national politics, and definitely bears exploring.  The only thing known for certain: it can't be fraud.  Biden was the most popular POTUS in our history and the election process is airtight.

Maybe a few mil didn't vote for either Trump or Harris, and none of the listed alternatives, like me, but i can't see 20M going that.  Or maybe 20mil thought we're fucked either way and didn't bother.  That, I can understand.

So, yes, it is a big signal.

One of the most telling images of the evening.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper was left stunned after learning Kamala Harris failed to outperform Biden in any state. CNN

Break Break....WTF is up with Arizona and Nevada, still counting votes 2.5 days later (Arizona is still at 69%), Florida counted all their votes in 2.5 hours.

This is contrary to much of the 'get out the vote' movements, but I personally think a low voter turnout is not inherently a bad thing.  The level of ignorance of many voters is absolutely shocking.  If you don't take the time to become informed enough to make a reasonable decision, then you shouldn't vote.

I also agree that many voters were likely completely uninspired by either option and simply decided it wasn't worth their time if a ballot didn't magically show up in their mailbox unrequested.

If you look further back Kamala’s turnout numbers aren’t the anomaly, they’re a reversion to the mean. Hillary got 65M in 2016 and kamala got 68M this year. This just shows how much of an anomaly 2020 was. With the George Floyd riots and covid bringing out tons of low propensity voters and TDS at its peak, 2020 was always going to be a record year for Dems.

20M is a crazy number but it just shows how insane the country was at that point. Everything felt like it was on a knifes edge

Poster write,

“ With the George Floyd riots and covid bringing out tonsof low propensity voters and TDS at its peak”

That’s kind of my point, were George Floyd BLM rioters and anarchists really that much more motivated to vote, and how many Rioters were there really? Add to this the absolute Hysteria that gripped the largely Democrat ranks, I find it incredulous that Covid, mail in ballots, or motivation to leave a safe home and vote during a pandemic that still scares most democrats today, would account for 20 MILLION EXTRA VOTES. A FEW MILLION, MAYBE BUT NOT 20,000,000. I’d love for some whistleblower to surface.

It's more like 20M not showing up, 20M showing up, then 20M not showing up again.  Not sure if anyone is looking into the data to see why the turnout was so high in 2020, but I'm sure it would be a great story for someone willing to nerd out in the data.

I found this chart pretty interesting:
burnies-take-on-voter-turnout-v0-oy9cx9t

Basically, Trump did a better job getting people to vote than Kamala did. The Republican's didn't win the election, the Democrats lost it. My guess: because they ran a person people didn't like.

Even Bernie agrees with me:

Trump appointing the first female CoS in history - fucking sexist Hitler.

She was leading Trump's campaign and he won.  He's just picking a winner.  Let's see if she lasts a year.  Lots of bootlickers out there that want a piece and she'll be sniping their asses left and right.  If one sneaks in....

You missed the point. Not that I’m surprised.

It would take every Ranger in the 75th to get through this fucking fat body. I'm clearly not an elite and had to do some googling to figure out this guy comes from one of the Top 10 richest families in the US. One RCH deeper reveals their wealth was built through development and expansion of the Hyatt hotel chain. Wasn't a fan of the chain before, but I'll be sure to avoid the abortion riddled, alphabet soup stuffed, snowflake draped cesspool further.

Pritzger,

another Democrat out there trying to console and comfort all the Democrat snowflakes who are sooooooo scared of what’s coming! Why do democrats revel in their fear and weakness. Here’s a grown man telling other grown men and women to grab their safety animal (stuffed toy) and run to a safe place. How did the democrat party go from a working class, blue collar party, populated by the same men who stormed the beaches of Normandy and Iowa Jima, into a party of soy boys, effeminate Beta’s, and weak, hysterical women, who aren’t t even embarrassed about crying over an election. Look at Jimmy Kimmel. So weak, so scared, so BETA, AND THEY ARE PROUD OF IT!  This is why they lost the Black Male and Hispanic votes. WHO wants to be associated with such pathetic whiners?

Democrats gonna cry about this one, I can already hear the screeching now.

But If he can just manage to impose term limits on congress that would be one of the greatest achievements of any president ever.

That would rock DC to the foundations (or muck where foundations should be).  That would be amazing and so beneficial to our country if people actually SERVED for two terms rather than making a career and enormous personal wealth out of being an elected official.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think it'll ever happen.

Two would be crazy. Every member of the House of Representatives would be a slave to their staff in a way much worse than the president currently is to the bureaucracy.

I say 3 terms for senators and 6 for representatives, and that applies to all districts. No switching counties or states for another 6/3 terms. You need a few years to become an expert in any job. But the incidence of corruption is much higher in the 20+ year offices. Also, it greatly reduces the number of geriatric congressmen, since so many are age-in-place barnacles.

A particularly savvy politician could then only serve 46 years of elected office if they successfully win every election as a representative, senator, vice president, and president. Numerically that will be impossible for more than 4 people per generation. If you can pull that off, bravo. The rest will be limited to <20 years
